Well, I think its safe to say that Week 2 was horrendous. Only 3 battles actually went down. However, no need to be pessimistic as this league has an innovative concept behind it which will attact many dope battlers once the word spreads. Trust me, this league is going to grow. Last Weeks Battle Reviews

Sureloc Holmes (1-0) vs. Uncil Phil (0-0)

This was probably the only legitimate battle that went down all week where both battlers at least put in some effort. Both dropped fairly consistently on each other’s girls and this battle wasn’t bad at all. In the end, the voters felt Uncil Phil had a lot more quotables so he got this.

DaTrusHurtz (1-0) vs. GKillaz05 (1-0)

GKillaz05 dropped first and honestly his verse was trash and filled with lots of sex jokes and nothing aimed at the picture. Trus dropped right before the deadline a pretty quick verse which wasn’t that great, but clearly better and enough to win.

Bobericc_lyrics (1-0) vs. Stanza (1-0)

I Pm’d him on 2 different sites, but Bob no-showed so Stanza won.

Comp Lex (1-0) vs. §howcase (1-0)

§howcase dropped early, and he had a nice verse. Most of it was quotable or close to it. Comp Lex was online and could have dropped, but had some personal issues come up and ended up no-showing.

Phil Benjamin (1-0) vs. Syntax (1-0)

Syntax dropped his pic early and posted an ugly fake girlfriend pic to give ammo to Phil. Phil ended up no-showing so Syntax dissed the pic he posted and got the free win.

Tony Brown (1-0) vs. New Meth0d (1-0)

Tony Brown was ready to drop a verse and he dropped his pic early, but New Meth0d pussied out and ended up no-showing.

SwervEz (1-0) vs. Jack The Rippa (0-0)

SwervEz checked in early, but never showed up after that. JTR posted a no-show verse right before the deadline to grab the win.

Appocolyptik (0-1) vs. Prosecuter (0-1)

Appocolyptik didn’t like that I gave him a loss last week after not voting. He signed out so Prosecuter won.

DEFY (0-1) vs. Slouch (0-0)

Slouch dropped first and he dropped by far the longest verse of the week at 32 lines. There was a lot of filler, but also a lot of fire and some really dope quotables. DEFY dropped only 10 lines after that and didn’t match Slouch’s 32. DEFY’s verse was pretty weak and Slouch won easily.

There was essentially nothing to choose from, but I guess this was the best.

I envisioned the concept of a gimmick based league long ago and was thinking of closing the LBL for such a league anyway. However, both of these guys helped convince me that they would help the GBA succeed, they had lots of great ideas, they would be active mods, … After just 1 week, both no longer battle here. I’m cool with both of you, but damn, you guys are such drama queens.

Dumbass’s of the Week

Syntax and GKillaz05

Syntax went in my battle and voted against me. Now, no one should be voting for me simply because I’m a mod or my reputation. However, his reason was this:

“DaTrus dropped yesterday lol So to me that seems like a day late...

So because Trus didn't follow the rules I am giving the win to GKillaz..”

Now first of all, the rule on dropping late in this league is its fine unless your opponent decides to DQ you. So for one, he shouldn’t be voting based on lateness, that was up to GKillaz. But, more importantly, lets take a look at the rules I posted for the battle:

“Verses Due Monday at 12:00PM Pacific”

I posted at “02-20-07, 02:38 AM.” Now, given that Syntax has been on this board since 2004, I would think he would know that post times on this board are on Eastern Time. Verses are due at 12:00PM Pacific, aka, 3:00 AM EST. I even bolded the Pacific part. He said I dropped a whole day late when actually I dropped 22 minutes before the deadline, lol.

The reason GKillaz05 was mentioned also for this award was saying he wanted the DQ win against me. He also went in the 1-2-1 forum and freeposted that I always post late and get by only because I’m a mod.

In short, if you are going to accuse a mod of being crooked, you better be able to back it up. Both of these guys were throwing around accusations that weren’t even correct because they didn’t know how to read. So for that, you get dumbass’ of the week.

I just want everyone to be clear here about the rules for voting in this league. You must vote on 4 battles per week. 2 votes will be deducted for every missing vote. Should you for some reason not be able to vote during the week, let me know in advance and not after the fact. I will excuse you from voting provided you vote on 8 battles in the following week.

Also, if for some reason you do not vote on 4 battles but you were winning your own battle, you will of course lose. However, if you vote on 8 battles in the week after, and you lost your battle the week before only because you didn’t vote, I will be happy to reverse the decision and turn your loss into a win.

5. Uncil Phil (1-0) – Dropped well enough to win his first match. Has dropped some cool verses all over the net so he should do nicely in the league.
4. Jack Tha Ripper (1-0) – His only win is via no-show, but this dude can drop nice when he wants to.
3. Tony Brown (2-0) – Got a nice win over Artistik in week 1 and a no-show win has him at a nice 2-0 start.
2. DaTrusHurtz (2-0) – Trus hasn’t dropped anything amazing in his first two weeks, but has still come up with 2 victories. Should drop better when the competition improves.

Predictions

Stanza (2-0) vs. §howcase (2-0)

§howcase is repping the Colts and Stanza the Steelers. These two have the same record, but very different skill sets. §howcase earned verse of the week last week and should be able to take this pretty easily.

Syntax (2-0) vs. DaTrusHurtz (2-0)

Syntax is repping the Jaguars and Trus the Texans. Both are 2-0 through little effort. Syntax is still getting back into text and Trus much more polished. Trus should win this one.

Tony Brown (2-0) vs. Jack Tha Ripper (1-0)

One of the NFL’s best rivalries is going on here with Tony Brown’s Cowboys facing JTR’s Redskins. Could be a good battle if both battlers try though JTR has a tendency to be lazy. Still, I got JTR to win.

Uncil Phil (1-0) vs. Slouch (1-0)

Uncil Phil is repping the Cardinals and Slouch is repping the Bears. This match could be interesting. Uncil Phil is better, but Slouch had some nice shit last week, albeit he was inconsistent. If Slouch works on his consistency he could surprise here, but I got Uncil Phil winning.

GC (1-0) vs. Wireless (1-1)

GC’s Ravens are going against Wireless’ Titans in this one. Pretty even match right here that could really go either way. Ravens are the better team, but I’m going with Wireless here.

Sureloc Holmes (1-1) vs. Gkillaz05 (1-1)

Sureloc’s Raiders are going against GKillaz’s Saints. Sureloc is still elevating, but is more elevated than GKillaz who’s style hasn’t evolved to newer times yet. With the ousting of the bed and breakfast offense, I see the Raiders winning this one.

Aurora Sky (0-1) vs. Baron, Bitch! (0-0)

Division matchup right here with Aurora’s Giants against Baron’s Eagles. These two aren’t in the same league and I got Baron winning this one pretty easily.

Aeral (0-2) vs. Ancel (0-0)

Yet another divisional matchup setup here with Aeral’s Dolphins against Ancel’s Jets. These teams have been known to have close matches that go down to the wire, and I think this will too. Ancel is likely a bit rusty so I got Aeral winning this.

-Troublesome- (0-0) vs. Roger Glocks (0-0)

This should easily be the battle of the week with 2 solid vets going at it. Troublesome’s Patriots and Glocks hometown Pats are evenly matched. Could go either way, but I’m going with Glocks in this one.

Well, last week sucked and the league is still fairly small. However, there is a lot of room for optimism with the dope additions this week to Baron, Troublesome, Glocks, and Ancel.
