Ghetto Pass
 

From my understanding, a ghetto pass is privallge given to white people from Blacks to act as we act. I hav a problem with that because why would we want someone to immitate the ignorance we perpetuate. We need to change ourselves, but we give whites permission to say nigga and do things like that, even though no matter how much they try to immitate us, they will never fully understand our struggle.Then I have a problem with people equating being ghetto as embracing your blackness. Being ghetto is setling for less, and saying you deserve what you have. I believe that the ghetto is a beautiful thing but the going out of the way to act ghetto is being ignorant. I got more to say once the responses start coming in so keep the responses coming and tell me what yall think...

i'm black, an i used to live in sacramento cali, i guess i've lived in a ''ghetto'' an i was grew up to always believe less fortunate black communitys should not be glorified.......

its a beautiful thing, if anybody has never been to a ghetto, you'll understand its more than just a poor area, people respect everybody down there, its a way of life, its completly diffrent from any other communities in the whole world....its like you treat everybody who lives on ya block as family, hence the reazon ''outsiders'' aint always been welcomed, thats the reazon the ''ghetto pass'' stands today....
but in my opinnon they should not have them, this may sound wrong, but even tho it is a lessfortunate area, they have worked for what they have, an black folk will be the only people to ever know what that feels like, the white people will just be comin thru into ghettos actin all urban n black, an if anybody in the ghetto has any sense at all...they should be offended by that...

i dont think its right to black people.. me bieng a white person completely influenced by hip hop culture by dressing and acting a certain way.. myself bieng told i am not black therefore i cant act this way i think this is disrespectful to black people bieng set in a certain group of people

it is disrespectful when other races try an immitate our way of life...
for a example...
would a whiteboy try an act an asian? or mexican act european? it just aint right, if ya wanna be influenced then that is all good, that proves the muzik gets a message across, but thats what it is, a message, not a right for white folk to hear things in songs an automatically assume they know what we go thru..

i dont assume what you go through cuz white people also go through struggles of living in run down shacks ... ya'll got projects we got trailer parks white people can come off just as everyone else and i dont think its a race that white people are imitating because you dont see me rock sequins and ruffled shirts imitating prince or coppin a pleated suit imitating jesse jackson both big names in african culture but you might see me with a throwback jersey on or a cap tilted to the side because i'm influenced by a rapper also a black person you may here me talk slang but i dont see why i'm suddenly acting black if i do so...

...because we originated it, its like you wouldnt see a black man talk n act like a ''hick'' cause he wants to be from a trailer park, so why do white kids act ghetto?

i'm not even trynna say you act black or its wrong for you to do slang throwbacks n all, but what i'm sayin is white folk in general hear stuff in songs or see movies n think the ghetto is all cool n stuff...........

just wondering how you feel but is there a diffrence and define acting ghetto cuz from i came from acting ghetto to me is living ghetto carrying foodstamps and stead of cash walking home or what you call a home with a card board box full of canned goods cuz your moms to drugged up to get her own welfare food not gettting presents for christmas but getting a starter jacket that you rock till it looks like a t. shirt thats my aspect of ghetto and i dont wanna go back to that

for me all i really did was grow up to my surrounding,
if i grew up in the 'burbs then id be prep

hmm..peeps should just act naturally...no matter how tht be....i know areas....not jus black areas..white areas aswell..and mixed ares...tht are labeled as bad areas....ruff folks n stuff......were evryone respect each other.....dont mean they actin black...........i talk how i talk....im white...but i dont put an accent on.....i dress the way i think looks good....wether it be baggy trousers and t-shirts or not...i walk how i walk.....i dont make effort to do these differently......white people live in tough areas too.......its just tht those people arent influenced by hip-hop..therfore dont say ghetto n stuff like tht......but they still have it hard....i hate when black people say...oh..we from the hood..its hard..white people dont know wot its like.....thts bullshit.......like i say....areas near me are ruff...my areas ruff.....drug dealin..robberies...no jobs.......and its a mixture of blacks and whites..more whites.....so has nothin to do with colour at all......so white peeps do know wot its like......dont say they dont.......and u cannot act black...no one can......there are black doctors..and black lawyers...so if someone tells me im actin black...does tht mean im actin like a doctor.......NO.....im been myself.....and im actin by what ive been influenced by.....Hip-Hop.....so u cannot act black.........but u can act hood...or act ghetto....but u cannot act black........

no i'm not getting worked up actually i agree with you 100% someone come from the burbs to act ghetto is absoloutly ridiculous because there oblivious to what its really like...

it's about more than dressing a certain way.
