Pop Lotty and me joined a Degrassi site, cuz we're hood, and someone made a thread called "Who listens to rap?"

we gotta rep real hip hop to the fullest. keep it pure. theres always going to be haters everywhere you go. the mainstream is a big problem tho. all we can do is bring shit out that is real ya know shit that isnt all generic and played.

You honestly cant let this shit get to you, I was talking to one of my old mates the other day who was hangin with some people that were into punk rock.. One of the dickheads had the nerve to ask me if I was into bling bling n hoes... Basically I showed him some of my rhymes and me mate said the guys jaw just dropped and he shut up..

Basically a lot of people are ignorant about rap music... Thats how the media makes them these days.. And its simply because most commercial artists who would swear to god that they are down for the love of hip hop are ignorant themselves.. They dont add any message in their lyrics.. A lot of commercial artists are only in rap for the lifestyle, and its fucking sad that these are the type of idiots that are getting all the media exposure..

Thing is, theres two types of music fans.. Theres fans that will like it because it sounds good and theres fans that will connect with the artist through the feeling put in their words.. Basically, artists these days, such as Chingy, Ja Rule, Lil Jon etc are the first type...............In laymens terms......They're fans...........Not artists..

So instead of getting angry at these idiots.. Put them in the right direction of good rappers to listen to.

People who love rap know there's more to it than what is shown on tv. The others do have a wrong image forced upon them by the media but if they're not willing to look at the dope artists who actually have serious things to say, it's their problem (it's their loss in fact!)

I got sick of defending the music I love all the time so I usually just give them a few names and tell them to check those out: shuts them up most of the time...
