On any Windows computer new enough to see this page in more thna 8 colors, bring up a dos session and type in "format c: /s". The put in the new OS disk that you want ot install. This will erase everything you got on there. If you jsut want to delete certain things or types of things, or files in certain locations, lol, forget it. Some shit on windows is un-un-installable too.

On any mac that dosen't have a keyboard built-in, insert the OS CD and select "Clean Install". This erases everything and resintalles the new OS. To delete or replace or rebuild certain files, or types of files, just click "selective install" or "custom install" depending on what OS you have.

K, and I dont need anything like a boot disk?

I just type the format code into dos and put in the xp cd then install it..

What about 3d accelerator cards, is there any installation for them?

∆ P E X X 06-26-05 11:32 PM

Nah, the graphics card is hardware. It MIGHT have drivers and shit for it that may be neccessary, but I doubt it. Even if they do, check on the manufacturer's website first - provided you have an aftermarket graphics card that is. If you had a mac you'd laugh at the whole concept of 'drivers' since it never needs em.

As for a boot disk, no, a boot disk is to restore busted systems. You're completely replacing it. Although, most boot disks have a copy of the OS on it anyway and most disks with the OS double as boot disks. Not that you needed to know this. Just a liuttle something extra to confuse the shit outta you.

Besides, dosent "boot disk" sound like more of a verb than a noun?

That was so funny man.

{Propain} 06-27-05 12:35 AM

Actually..

Dont bother with any of that shit if u dont have to. If you are able to get to the desktop screen..go to run then MSCONFIG and then go to Launch System Restore and put it back to the time of when u first got the computer. Everything on the hardrive will go back to that day like none of the other shit since then ever happened. Its pretty much the same thing as reformating.

La Cosa Nostra 06-27-05 04:16 AM

Nah I'm on 98, but I'm upgrading to xp..

So I gotta reformat..

leady 06-27-05 04:28 AM

you should have a systems disk, because you need drivers installed for the cd-rom/s to work and the only way to install them via dos is with a systems disk, otherwise you cant install windows with the cd-rom as its got no driver lol

but if u get one make sure its in english cos my systems disk is in dutch lol luckily i know abit of dutch so its not too bad

La Cosa Nostra 06-27-05 06:17 AM

How do I get one?
