Whatever happened to music?

How fucking shit is todays pop music... its boring and repetetive, shitty delivery.. It takes little to no skill to make.

Not just rap, pop im talkin... But a lot of pop music today is rap, so it sort of ties in.

I reckon as time goes on, pop music will get shitter and shitter. I've been listening to heaps of 60's, 70's, 80's rock, funk, and rap and musically it blows recent shit out of the water, except for a select few modern artists..

Whats with that? Only like 5 modern songs have made me just want to get up and dance cos theyre so dope.

Word, I'm really getting sick of hearing people talking about artists "blowing up" and how dope they are talkin about them like they're the next Pac or somethin then turns out they're just the same repetivie Gucci Mane soundin motherfucker.

BUT, the thing that's even more annoying about this whole situation is hearing pop-ass motherfuckers who's only experience with hip-hop is what they hear on the radio criticize hip-hop and hip-hop culture.

Terumoto 11-04-05 04:09 AM

But this isnt just the old, 50 cent sucks, pac was dope, nobody is dope now.

People just cant make music like they used to. I love funk music, mostly from the 70's and 80's... They didnt have the money, they didnt have the technology, but ill be fucked if it isnt some of the best stuff ever to grace my ears.

Blay'all 11-04-05 04:09 AM

The kid knows nothing about funk music.

La Cosa Nostra 11-04-05 04:33 AM

Its cause people are so hungry for new shit now..

Music is all about the movement an artist brings forward these days and over the last 10 or so years cats will just back anything that seems slightly right at the time.. Thats why the most highly reguarded artists these days are complete garbage when compared to the old days when you actually had to have real talent to make it big.. Theres also issues of how music is evolving into nothing more than a commodity based business run by record companies that are only interested in putting generic crap thats been proven to sell to make money.

As more and more steriotypes form especially over the last 100 years its getting harder and harder to have a style that is dope an still origional. But its not just music thats being affected by these changes... Movies and TV are also getting less and less origonal because companies know what will sell and are way too afraid in the currant dynamic market to take a risk on anything that could be considered slightly out of the norm..

Every day I get more and more depressed about how the world is turning out... These days people are so pathetically un-origional and incapable of innovation that the world is slowly running itself into the ground and conformist movements are winning.....

One of my biggest goals in my career and lifes work is to know that when I die, I died for a cause and know that I did my part, even on the smallest scale to change the direction were going in. To know that in the future, if my son or daughter has a dream, they will be living in a world that will allow them the freedom to chase that dream and the power to succeed without some big name corperate fat cat stepping all over the little guys and preventing anyone from the general public to rise up.

Its already happening with music. These days its not about talent anymore. Its about who you got backing you. Its about who you know over the quality of what you produce.

THAT needs to change.

havent read nay othe rpost except for the first one

i would say that the black eyed peas make some good music to listen to...they know how to make a dope song........IMO

Terumoto 11-04-05 04:38 AM

Status: I dont really like the black eyed peas... theyre basically a shitty mix of outkast wannabes with an <insert any RnB bitches name here> wannabe.

Nos: exactly ......

Thats one of the virtues of being a thinker, not a follower... you can realise this shit and act on it.

Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne are the hottest mainstream rappers out. They both have a different approach to this shit.

K.ontroverz.Y 11-04-05 06:24 AM

pop music <---popular music

Hiphop is the popular music right now. therefore most "pop music" is going to be hiphop. Yes it is shit. but its making money. If bastards stopped supporting it and buyin the albums then maybe it would LEAVE.

the fact that you mention pop tying into rap really pisses me off because thats true, all though I don't mind a pop style beat in my tracks but that only sometimes I'd do that.

See this is what I been trying to say forever. Hip hop was better off when it wasn't so big. Now people need "Radio edit" this and "club joint" this and shit. Thats why you got so many lies being told. Fuck I hate how the industry raped music. Oh well what'r you gonna do? I'ma just put my shit out hoping somebody like it.

Mike Macs 11-04-05 08:10 PM

Young Jeezy ain't shit, just had to let that out, all crunk music is shit, same old hook, hook plays mo than the lyrics, lyrics are shitty too, my opinion, when the 90's were gone, so was music.
