Hip-Hop... Culture?

so this is something that always kind of conflicts in my mind... i consider hip-hop to be a "culture"... but, for most cultures you become a part of the culture through birth and the word "culture" in itself implies being a native and history... but, i was obviously not born into hip-hop if you met my parents, but i consider myself to somewhat represent hip-hop culture today... any thoughts?

Tha Q. 01-22-06 10:38 PM

ur kidding right?

You think you have to be "born" into a culture to become part of it?

That's definitely not true in most cases.

There is a culture of the affluent. Some people were born into it while others became rich.

Personally, I look at hip hop as an art form, nothing as deep as what some make it out to be. It is a culture though because you can engross yourself in the style of it. It makes sense when you compare it to country and rock music. Can you imagine Toby Keith dressing like Eminem, or Bono acting like 50 cent?

i'm asking whether you think you have to be born into hip-hop culture or not n shit like that, not what hip-hop culture is...

Ysdat 01-22-06 11:03 PM

ok, well No you dont have to born into it.

Blay'all 01-22-06 11:07 PM

argh, okay, whatever... i guess the majority of the people on RV arent capable of a discussion anymore...

Hip hop is as much an artform as a culture..

The culture side is related to the bohemian way of life people that create hip hop lead.. If you dont understand this already.. Your obviously still going by norms and steriotypes and therefore your not actually living hip hop as a lifestyle.........

Ysdat 01-22-06 11:09 PM

I think if your at a age past 15 and still dont have a understanding about hip hop, then your not hip hop but mearly a trend follower, doing saying and trna do whats cool, rather than being hip hop and starting your own path, your own direction with the culture.
