I was on cnn.com and saw an article on a dating site for people with STDs. Apparently, people with STDs have a difficult time dating, or at least maintaining relationships. So, this site allows someone with a sexually transmitted disease to meet others in a similar predicament. What do you all think about this? At first, it struck me as weird. But, I don't know.

i think its cool it allows them equal oppurtunities plus by doing this if they spread the word abotu it the std rates might go down because most people are too scared to tell their partners hopefully this site will help with that

YEA...That's the first thing that ran through my mind. It's almost as if they're trying to quarantine people with STD's in order to ostracize them from society. I still don't know though. I agree with Willa that this could be an opportunity for some people to meet other nice people whom can relate to their situation.

On the other hand, wouldn't it be embarrassing to meet someone you know has an STD? That's like going to the free clinic for a date. lol

I don't really see the reason in it. If you already have one STD why tha hell would you wanna go date someone that has another one, possibly a different one, so you can upgrade from nasty wit one STD to nasty wit two STD's?

^^I think that's a good point. It's something I thought about when I first heard of this. But, I think their argument is this: People with STDs will always date, period. Anyone who is sexually active for any extended period of time will probably contract an STD at some point in their lives. A few of the STDs are curable (Crabs, Syphillis, Gonorrhea, Clamydia) while others aren't (HIV, Herpes, Warts, etc). Those with the incurable diseases often have to "confess" to their love interests that they have that disease, often with unwelcome results. This web site could cut the awkwardness of having to disclose that information to someone in the course of a relationship. If two people meet on that web site, they already know what you have and vice versa.

but yeah, I guess for anyone with an STD a site where other people with STD's can hang out and trade pictures of their sores and boils would be a good thing.

Yea...I mean...Lots of people like to sit around and pretend they know nothing about it...Truth is, if someone is sexually active, they run the risk of contracting an STD. Many of these STDs have no symptoms. So, you got nothin to be ashamed about bro. I wouldn't bring this up as a dinner topic though.
