Kung Fu
Is awsome. I love practicing and sparring. Who practices some kind of self defense?
|
Yes. Martial arts are ill.
I do, and I know nos does also. I used to do a lot of weapons stuff, as well as taijutsu and capoeira before I moved to australia. But even in the city its hard to find a decent teacher that actually knows wtf hes talking about, so im just teaching myself atm... Hopefully that will change in the future. -_- |

I guess I practive self defense whenever I go to an M16 range to qualify. I'm kinda practicing "other's" defense too......lol. But for real, in the army we do combatives training. If you ever watch UFC, you might know what I'm talking about.....but they do it with more emphasis on strength, while we do it with more emphasis on technique. It's tight. We had a competition with teams and shit and my team won first place. I fought three people and all three times I got my person to tap out  |
I work out. thats enuff.
but on the real, my trainer is in one lvl below UFC. so he trains me like how he trains. Matrial Arts can only go so far, basics will go far. the rest is freestyle using common sense. |
Yeah man..
I'm doing weapons training at the moment...... I fuck cunts up. |
Serbness: That is completely untrue.
Back in america I remember when I first started taijutsu, I had been doing it for a few weeks, but the shit that really got me motivated about it was I saw my teacher own the fuck out of some huge cunt. My teacher was a short asian man. What happened was this guy came along and he was huge.. I think he was about 19 or 20, and he was just coming along for one night to see how shit was. He was being arrogant and rude, and putting down taijutsu and my master and shit. Then teacher was like "OK. Well let us fight right now, first one knocked to the ground is the loser." The guy, seeing as though he was muscly was confident he could knock down a small asian dude. The fight began, and niether one advanced for a while. The big guy finally made a move, it looked like he was trying to push teacher in the chest. My teacher grabbed one of the guys arms with one hand, leaned back to avoid the push, and blocked the punch the big guy threw after that with his free hand. Teacher gave him a knee to the stomach, then put his foot just above the guys belt, and threw him backwards with the help of his leg... Shit was insane. The guy wasnt hurt, but my teacher didnt even throw any punches or kicks... Just a little knee to the stomach while his abs were tensed. The guy lost and was pretty like... Pissed off and embarrassed. He left -_-. Seeing that I was like whoa. Good technique owns power in most cases. But I guess power is enough, if all you want is to be ready for like random street fights. |
jeet kun do moyfuckas  i dont go by it but i know its gotta be dope cuz bruce lee made it nah mean :shoot:
i love martial arts though but im not paying to learn that shit in a stupid class with like 30 annoying kids i rather have some old ass wise guy who wont charge do a 1 on 1 teaching shit, like thats ever gonna happen -_- |
Jeet kune do is ILL.
The trick is finding a GOOD school. Cos most of those places are just those like... Go there for a month, you are automatically a blackbelt if you pay the $29 blackbelt fee. Do some research on the master there, maybe ask him who his master was. Cos there heaps of cunts that just make it up as they go and dont actually know anything about what theyre trying to teach. |

A true master uses no pre-defined style or form. I mean.......I can tell you straight up, the bigger guy made some fairly obvious mistakes in his opening moves probably due to inexperience... Martial arts teaches different moves to use in different circumstances, but in a real fight, your only going to ever actually use one or two moves. And a lot of it is based on things like reaction times and natural ability rather than theory and technique. And its almost always better to be unpredictable. Technique only takes you so far before you need the actual smarts to improvise on what youve learnt to adapt to actual fighting situations. So while serbness pretty obviously is being ignorant and has absolutly no idea what hes talking about... He is kind of right......In an in-direct sense. |
Martial Arts Is ILL.
Period. Me personally? I don't practice it , much, i may mess around here and there..and mess with some weapons along the way..But i know this one asian kid around here (Chad), he's crazy..He kind of uses Caporeia (Or how you spell it) but does it in a different, more modernized style..i know that he used to study martial arts and now he does Breakdancing, so when he "practices" fighting, he pulls off that Martial Arts/Breakdancing Technique..It's Ill.. I'm bored. |
Kung Fu get its dick ridden so hard.
But I've done judo, karate, boxing, kickboxing, and muaytai |

I disagree with what you said about "true masters." If a true master had no style or form, he would not be a master. Martial arts masters often dabble in other styles in their lifetime, but stick to one style to master. Being a master doesnt mean having no pre-defined style or form. It means that they can flow freely and naturally from any kick, punch, throw or block and adapt to any situation. Utilizing the tools their art has to offer, they read their opponent and counter that movement with whatever movement they have mastered that would be effective in that situation. Being a master means you can pull off techniques at full efficiency autonomously. If someone is a master of a style, it doesnt just mean they know all the techniques of that style flawlessly. It also has an inner aspect, their mind is just as disciplined as their body when it comes to fighting. What you said is probably the case with martial arts students, but not every single person that practices martial arts. It also depends on the style... For example modern day Karate is basically almost always taught as a competition art. Even though some moves in it may be effective in a fight situation, ultimately it would only give a slight advantage. A style like Bujinkan Taijutsu is designed to be an effective combat style. It focuses on attacking weak points of the body, working with gravity to ground your opponent, a lot of pressure point strikes, grabs, pins, and holds. It is designed to quickly render the opponent unable to attack. Its the same with styles like Muay Thai, that are designed to quickly fuck up opponents so they cant fight (im talking about the original muay thai, the kind that is used in thai boxing is very different). |

Pre-defined styles and forms = predictability. You can work your entire life to master a certain style, then get thrown in a position where you simply cant use jack shit of what youve learnt... Adaptability is key bro... Thats shit that comes from natural ability and experience... Mastering technique can only get you so far... |

Name one person that knows every movement of every style, or even three different styles. I doubt you could predict the movements of a master of any style. Any true master of any style can read and predict the movements of his opponent. Whether that opponent is some street drunk, a boxer, or a student of a different style. Depending on the style, martial arts masters are also excellent at masking their intentions, and striking quickly. Do you really think a specialist in combat doesnt know that movements can be anticipated and then countered? That is one of the main faucets of ANY martial art. That is what gives any decently skilled martial artist an advantage over an untrained opponent. I doubt anyone who has spent their life training in martial arts would get thrown into a position where their knowledge is useless that easily. And do you think such an expert would just automatically be helpless when one of the thousands of techniques he knows doesnt suit the situation? He has been fighting all his life... Do you think people like that cant adapt to situations like someone who WASNT trained in martial arts? Martial artists are still people with instincts, common sense, and as much natural ability as the next guy. I dont understand how you could see training in a style of martial arts and learning effective ways to disable your opponent as a disadvantage. |
Yeah nah your right..
I think the point I was trying to make may have been overexadurated.. A lot of fighting styles construct moves to flow really well so based on someones style and skill level you can usually predict what sort of move their gonna make just cause you know what will roll on from the position their in... I know this cause I do it whenever I fight... Dont get the wrong idea like I'm dissing martial arts.. I dont go out every week learning this shit cause I think its flawed. But theres not a regemented move for every situation that can be taught in a martial arts style. If you wanna demonstration, when I head down to sydney.....Well have a good full contact spar............... ![]() |
