This crime wave in D.C.
Over 100 murders so far just 6 months into 2006.
For those who aren't familiar with how Washington, D.C. is designed, it's divided up into 4 quadrants--S.E., N.E., S.W., N.W. The White House is in NW, while the poorest areas are in S.E. Washington, D.C. is almost 70% African American. Yet, the richest residents live in Georgetown or the Adam's Morgan area in NW--and, they happen to be mostly white. In Southeast, which is predominantly poor black people, murders are an everyday occurrence. The vast majority of the murders in D.C. happen in S.E. However, earlier this month, someone was murdered in Georgetown and all of a sudden, a state of "EMERGENCY" was declared in D.C. The Mayor held a meeting with the council to implement emergency legislation to help curve the "sudden" violence in D.C. To add insult to injury, a police captain made the statement, "It isn't a racial statement to say it's unusual to see black people in Georgetown," citing demands for him to be fired. Wow...classism? Racism? Ignorance... you tell me I wonder why it only took ONE murder in a rich area of DC for "emergency legislation" to be passed. Meanwhile, people are still dying daily in Southeast D.C. pssf Go figure. |

What can you do though, rich people run the world... If they feel in danger, thats when things get done.. American governments dont really give a shit about poor people... They pay less tax and often are the source of most criminal activity in the country... What do you expect? |
I don't think it's racism when black people kill other black people. Unless you feel the city is responsible for them or soemthing.
