I so desperately want to up my rhyme game...
I figure that every rhyme scheme has been explored at some point in the history of hip hop...
So, I'm wonderin if it's even possible to create a rhyme scheme that'll make people go, "WHOA, check that out." iono man I'm ready to blow up. 1 |
Wow people with your style, charisma, delivery, message and concepts they can really relate to and feel for..
Rhyme scheme is important, but its nowhere near what makes an artist... |
^ i get what you mean nos.
But i think he just wants a Scheme that's original..or something that makes him extremely Unique. |
You just gotta do you on a track man. When I do songs I just do what comes natural. You could even switch up the way you ride a beat. Just listen to other people that try to do differant shit. Kool Keith, Aesop, but the fact of the matter is, if you want to "blow up" you better start trying to commercialize your work. There is a reason underground music is underground music. It is a focused or targeted for a certain type of fanbase. Commerical "pop" if you will, will appeal to everyone, hence "pop"ular. Ya dig?

^^Exactly man...I'll always have something to rap about. I just want to present it in a new and innovative way. *opens up a book of forms* |
Content is what is going to make you stand out.

so I can sound like trash but as long as it's "real" I'm aiight? ehh iono man I guess I'm taking it to the extreme 1 |
No no not that. Mixing is hard but very "do"able with a little bit of time. So that should be second in your quest. I am confident with my mixing enough to worry about the conent of my lyrics. Drop like a buck on a decent condensor, grip some software like cubase cool edit etc..and do what comes natural. Your going to find it harder to do whats unatural and approaching things in a not common manner.
|
We all know that Content is a basis for lyrical rap.
But Like Q i want to Sound Like no-one else, which is virtually impossible these days because everyone's used something.. Longing for an Originality that will be hard to find. But when you hit that place, you will be ILLER than any thing you were before. |

nah bro...I think ur misunderstanding...When I said sound like trash, I meant delivery...I'm very capable of mixing a decent track... I hear u tho |
People will always compare you to SOMEone... The thing about real rap, is jus rhyming about your own shit, and doing it from your heart when you're on the mic. If you sound like someone else, who cares? Make that style YOURS, so that instead of people comparing YOU to THEM, they compare THEM to YOU. ya feel? Commerical or underground, as long as its 100% me, I don't care how I come off. word.

ps - as far as different rhyme schemes, Eminem has one song off his infinite album that has an amazing rhyme scheme. I forget which track it is, but its like
blah blah blah A blah blah blah A - A blah blah B blah blah blah B - B blah blah C... and so on... I liked it cause it stood out to me.. I know what Q is tryin to say with somethin different... cause to me, that track stood out on rhyme scheme alone. word. 1 |
thats why big L was ill....yea.....Q's rite here all the way, lyrics and presence are a lot but...u ALWAYS wana up everything man...total package....no one could ever truely be like..."fuck it, im perfect" cuz you never will be.
so i know exactly what dudes sayin, and thought about this a lot myself |
Get a bit of iambic pentameter going on. I mean, look at Shakespeare... He used it and people are studying his stuff centuries after his death.
|
^^Iambic pentameter is good for poetry but not for an entire rap song...I mean, if the beat promotes that type of rhythm, then I'd go with it. Otherwise, I tend to like to do what Biggie did, and that's make the beat fit around my flow/voice.
