Cyver-Suicide Show Will Go On

A band leader vowed to defy threats of criminal charges and proceed with a concert featuring a suicide scheduled to be broadcast live over the internet.
Hell on Earth lead singer Billy Tourtelot said in a phone interview yesterday said that the concert and suicide would take place last night in two, seperate undisclosed locations in St. Petersburg, Fla. He wouldn't give any more details on the venue.
The band intended to broadcast the event on its web page. Tourtelots announcement last month that he would host the suicide of a terminally ill fan led the city to ban the event with an ordinance, and prompted a judge to issue an injunction against it.
Florida Attourney General Charlie Crist has said anyone who assists in a suicide could be charged and can face up to 15 years in prison.
The person threatening suicide has said he is dying and he wants to promote his right-to-die views. Tourtelot, 33, said he was standing up for what he believed in to grant his friend his dying wish.
"There's nothing bad about that. It's giving the right to die with human dignity and compassion for those that we love." he said.
Kevin hayslett, a lawyer for Tourtelot, said the band leader wanted to go on with the show despite the lawyers advice that he not do so. Hayslett said that he did not know the concert's location.
Tourtelot said opposition for city officicals helped the band promote the concert.
"I think they wasted a lot of peoples tax dollars." he said. Neither city officials nor a police spokesperson returned phone messages today.
The other members of the band have not been heard from throughout the controversy, which has earned the group worldwide publicity.
Jason Trindade, the operator of a San Diego based technology company that hosts the bands website, said he would continue serving the site and carry the concert until he received complaints from law enforcement officials to shut it down.
"They havent broken any law, and I can't just turn them off." he said.
"Myself, I think it's pretty twisted."
He said the site has been attacked by hackers, causing it to be temporarily shut down earlier this week. He says he has received threats of possible cyberattacks for the concert.
