dumbing it down

is a sucky ass thing to have to fucking do...

I hate writing singles and songs where you wanna just rip loose on but you know that most people wont get it or your words will be too big..

everyones a fucking simplistic critic these days...

and being not melodic enough with big ass words aint gonna attract cd royalties no more... fucking limewire....

i love the question on soundclick about how you think the mp3 format and internet has changed or effected the music industry....

like fuck man....rub it in a bit...
the only real mass cd buying market is teenage girls these days... and when was the last time you met one of those with excelent taste in interlectual based music..

meh.. what can you do...

Ysdat 01-06-09 03:25 PM

Its a digital world bro. In reality, money off Hip Hop CDs is a empty dream.

Dumbing it down is just a wise tactic if your tryna create a large fanbase of people you dont even like, and point the finger at for killing Hip Hop.
Im a emcee's emcee, so I just rap, i know for a fact you dont like the target audience your 'dumbing it down' for. So why make it for them? I understand raps a buisness and success comes by sacrifising certain aspects of your music at times. But is having a bunch a mindless idiots that follow the crowed become a fan of your music, really success, or just an adition to the problem?

Nynth Degree 01-06-09 03:28 PM

Get a real job and make the music you wanna make.

Win-win situation.

M&rk 01-06-09 04:12 PM

^^^ good idea. or support yourself one some way before u establish yourself as a full fledge rapper. cuz if you aren't sucessfull in life already, what the fuck you gonna rap about. how shitty you think everyone and everything else is.

Now class, who would like to be the first to point of one of the many flaws in this statement?

Jay Rose 01-06-09 06:47 PM

you can dumb down the words and keep the message the same....easy listening is key in music as well as creativity, so sometimes be creative with words other times you can use less complex words to portray the same message...whats wrong with that?

01-06-09 07:55 PM

I already came to grips with this problem

hope I succeed

good luck to you baphomet, hope you're a famous australian rapper some day, and soon

TitoBronsky 01-06-09 08:05 PM

2v dont be Coy...

for real.. Nos can probly blow Down Under if he's spitting how he did on that collab verse.

and as for the dumb it down thing... dont man.... dont ever do that... you got vocab and intelectual shit to rap about ... thats what hip hop is... creative and a tool to reach the masses and effect them through your music... i think your fans who ever they are would agree that dumbing it down would negate your style.

just my 2cents

La Cosa Nostra 01-06-09 09:06 PM

hmm...

http://www.zshare.net/audio/53784166e1696663/

THAT shit is dumbed down... (and a bad quality recorded version to help me learn it for when i go into record with mules n the choose mics manager)

its like shit man I wanna rap about real shit.. but every time I do that its just too negative for people.. gotta have your shitty singles -_-

La Cosa Nostra 01-07-09 06:47 AM

nevermind assholes...

i fixed my lyrics and now its got some actual half decent content...

dumbing it down is no longer that much of a problem

fuck doing it on many tracks though

Indeph 01-07-09 07:48 AM

It's best not to dumb it down, just have the delivery, flow, and beat remain captivating enough to get the people who might not understand it's attention. I'm sure 60% of the people who saw the matrix didn't understand a shitload of the plot and dialogue, but the audience was entertained by the visuals and intense fight scenes. You just gotta apply that to your music. Dumbing yourself down never helps.

La Cosa Nostra 01-07-09 08:08 AM

Man I switched my shit up....

its just got good rhyming and normal ass 16 bar verse lyrics... but it sounds a lot better now... ready for studio...........

i couldn't understand what u were saying with your accent. but your flow was annoying and i didn't hear a single punchline. thats what i look for when i hear someone rapping, a clever line i'd wish i had made up, and if u have dope flow and multies leading up to it. makes it even better. but im just american

yo man dont listen to that version like its a song... the quality is really bad cause its a version just for me to learn the lyrics before i go into the studio to work with choose mics dj, hence being american your prolly gonna have a lot of trouble understanding it i didnt even sound proof at all for that vocal, all good ill be posting the proper version anyway once its done...

ive changed the lyrics a lot since then that problem you pointed out was actually why i wasnt liking it aswell... i tried to make it really simple and i realised a better way of doing simple.. and in some parts i just compleatly went fuck it and threw in some good lines especially in the second and third verse...

but your just american....

M&rk 01-08-09 03:34 AM

:high: :high: ^^
werd. im just american, but i would love to hear sumin u think is worth backing yourself up with

La Cosa Nostra 01-08-09 03:50 AM

You will soon enough...

maybe as early as next week......

Young Kidd (LM) 01-08-09 02:49 PM

personally, i don't even care, if i have to dumb it down for others to enjoy it then i do it.
i still do the lyrics on some songs, the real talk, the food for thought. for myself. in poetry, in just songs i listen to and shit.

but really i dumb it down because sometimes poeple just listen to the music to want to listen to it. to have a good time. so dumbing it down is just as enjoyable to me as the real lyrics are.

eh. plus i really just odnt give a fuck what people think, if they enjoy it they do, if only i enjoy it well fuck it. lol

i can't wait to hear you unleash these "interlectual" melodies.

WhoAmI 01-08-09 03:20 PM

as you don't rap what could you possibly bring to a discussion about having to dumb down your songs other than pathetic attempts at insults...

you don't have to play golf to know that the object is to get the ball in the hole.

same logic.

WhoAmI 01-08-09 05:41 PM

you made an understandable mistake

watching golf without having played won't give you a true insight into the technique required...

but you don't realise your statement is misguided as you don't do audio

Cola 01-08-09 05:45 PM

i think you 2 should have an audio battle

whodi!

whats the matter bud... you wanna throw your weight around like your some kind of hot shot.... are you some faggot from rapbattles?

what is your name on that site?

Frankenstein 01-08-09 10:39 PM

never been to rapbattles. sorry. and no, you didn't hurt my feelings. just thought it was ironic that you were complaining about not being able to be intellectual in your lyrics and use big words and whatnot and yet you can't even spell intellectual.

Frankenstein 01-08-09 10:39 PM

or, maybe interlectual is the australian version.

La Cosa Nostra 01-08-09 11:18 PM

oh twice... more spelling police crap.. refer to the other thread faggot

pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovulcanoconiosis...

now fuck off, spell check that asswipe

01-08-09 11:49 PM

Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis*

volcano, not vulcan. wtf you think this is? Star wars?

La Cosa Nostra 01-08-09 11:55 PM

haha speed typing bud...

difference between us is you prolly looked that word up...

01-08-09 11:56 PM

Yeah I did look that word up, like a lot of other words I know.

the only difference between our thinking wavelength right now is that you think I looked the word up after you had posted it.

too bad for you to know I looked it up the first time I came across it.

La Cosa Nostra 01-09-09 12:05 AM

one letter wrong out of the longest word in the english dictionary isnt that bad...

i read it and see the same thing.. just spelt with different usage of english letters.. i dont like rules especially on matters as fickle and meaningless as spelling and thats another difference in our wavelength of thought..

and this frankenstein cunt aswell.... who has made two attempts at snide comments correcting my spelling.. which have both failed to impress me or make me give a shit

01-09-09 12:10 AM

Who said that I cared about spelling at all? I was just pointing it out

and if you're going to look at it even remotely philosophically as you're trying to be compatible, then I'll just point out that if you didnt care about spelling then you wouldn't have been nearly as close to spelling that word as you were, because it IS a very long word

and another point about you ya ignorant puss, you wouldn't even know that word if you didn't care about spelling to any extent.

you'd just resort to typing Disease By Silicone Dust Inhalation

or more like Dizeaz By Sillicone Dust Inhailation

La Cosa Nostra 01-09-09 12:52 AM

lmao.. my point is that im not concearned with spelling errors... not that im making a point to spell things differently to whats considered standard.. when i say i wont adhere to normalised spelling it means my use of the english language isnt tied down wanting to be 100% perfect on a forum.. youll notice i very rarly use capitol letters or anything punctuation wise either while i speed type, are you gonna go into that aswell?

you ignorant puss... you did get me once in this thread with a small mis-judgement in my argument which i admitted to... dont get transparent and cocky over it.. and you taking the time to point out my spelling error if (as you imply) you dont care about it, is just logically wasting both of our time.

fucking mr philosophical my ass... go have a long hard think about the rammifications of your actions against your implied opinions.. or actual opinions if my assumptions on your statements are correct. your not getting anywhere with this either way..

01-09-09 12:55 AM

except that you care somewhat about spelling otherwise you wouldn't know how to spell.

Right?

Right. so mr. philosophical your ass, I'm mr. philosophizer.

La Cosa Nostra 01-09-09 01:26 AM

no i make observations of words, whether i remember fully or not their spelling order or make typos is compleatly irrelevant in my reality on a forum.

Right?

fuckhead...stop wasting my time

01-09-09 02:01 AM

I'll stop wasting your time as soon as you stop wasting your own time.

If you didn't care about spelling then writing words would be completely void from your mind, and you could only record your thoughts through hieroglyphics.

So in other words what you're telling yourself and everybody is although you run, you won't run a mile, so people need to stop complaining about it.

Then when I say why even run at all if you won't run a mile, you claim it's subjective and that I shouldn't expect such things from you.

I'm lead to believe that running is a bit much to expect from you.

Go draw some pictures, genius.
