Eminem issues An Apology

Eminem has responded to allegations that he made racially derogatory references to African Americans, in particular African American women in one of his early recordings. The tape, which was released by the Source Magazine at a New York press conference on Tuesday (November 18), features two untitled songs recorded by Eminem in 1993.


The rapper issued the following statement in relation to the recording, "Ray Benzino, Dave Mays and the Source have had a vendetta against me, Shady Records, and our artists for a long time. The tape played today was something I made out of anger, stupidity, and frustration when I was a teenager. I'd just broken up with my girlfriend, who was African American, and I reacted like the angry, stupid kid I was. I hope people will take it for the foolishness that it was, not for what somebody is trying to make it today."


The songs were provided by three white hip-hop fans from Detroit who were associates of Eminem when the song was recorded. They include the following lyrics: "And all the girls that I like to bone/Have the big butts, no they don't/ Cause I don't like that n-gger sh-t/ I'm just here to make a bigger hit ... Blacks and whites they sometimes mix/But Black girls only want your money cause they're dumb chicks/So I'mma say like this/Don't date a Black girl, take it as a diss/if you want, but if you don't/I'mma tell you like this, I surely won't/Never date a black girl because Blacks only want your money/ and that sh-t ain't funny ... Black girls and white girls just don't mix/Because Black girls are dumb and white girls are good chicks."

How can you say he was young and naive? He was 20 when this was recorded - by that age he should be mature enough to know not to do something as fucking stupid as this. I hate how all of you try to defend him and act like it was'nt racist .. it WAS racist - your all just on emionems side because of who it was that found the tape, Benzino, if it was anyone respectable, you'd act differently .. dont be all on his defence based on who discovered the tape .. fact is, the tapes there, he did say it, and let him get away with it because he apologised will just give him the thought that he can be racist to other races and get off with it.

read the news section in www.aftermathmusic.com and you can find an article which says that when benzino worked with a white rapper earlier in his career, he encouraged the white rapper to say the "N" word during his rhyme... and he did.... the funny thing is... benzino not only rolled with a white rapper (REALLY? WHITE? doesnt he hate those?) and his half-white (yes thats right), but he also ENCOURAGED that rapper to say the "N" word and make a racist remark... if benzino is 40 something now, that means he would've been much more mature than eminem at 20... but benzino was smart... didnt say it himself... told someone else to do it..... but why would a black man encourage a white man to make racist remark against another black person? seems to me like benzino is determined to give white rappers a bad name

this doesnt in any way excuse what eminem said... he did make a racist remark.... but that hardly makes him a full-blown racist who hates black people.... real racists against african americans can hardly stand black people... they despise them... why in all hell would he be working for them, giving them free beats, and practising their art form if he hated them that much? and more so, he was 20. Just cos you are giving a label of "adult" at 18 doesnt make you much wiser than 17 years old. If you ask me, no one really behaves with the logic of an adult until they are 25+...

bottom line is: eminem did make a racist remark, but things can be forgiven. Dont try and tell me you've never made a racist remark, against anyone. One of you did it in even the last thread.. "fuck those white boys, i knew they were good for nothing".. how does that make you better than what eminem said? its even worse... not every white person hates black people, in fact, a very few actually do. In fact, besides the powers such as french, british, german decendent white people, most other white people (including my own race) have never done anything against black people. And even when we are called white boys or crackers, we dont really care. So why doesnt everyone just drop this stupid racial shit, its tearing everyone apart... its not really helping to eradicate racism

ps. I am NOT pro-white. Australia is a multi-cultural country, especially sydney (the city i live in). Caucasian people make up a very low percentage of my friends, basically only a few aussies and my family friends. First of all Em is def. wrong for sayin what he did, break up or no break up. But it is no different than what a lot of black rappers say all the time.

Em disrespecting woman should not be tolerated any more than Benzino or any other rapper. Benzino is flinging mud and that shiat is landing on him as well.

Em isn't racist. Here's why:
1) Look at D12 = Eminem the only white member
2) Obie = black
3) 50 Cent + G-Unit = black
4) Hip Hop/Rap = Seen as black peoples music
5) Detroit = 80% African-American

Eminem's whole life revolves around Black people, not by nature...but by choice. Nobody told him to go into the 'black mans world of hip hop' or form a group with 5 black rappers or sign black artists to his label. Eminem has surrounded himself with black people so how can he be racist.
In the songs 'Kim' and '97 Bonnie And Clyde' he talks bout killin his wife...but nobody called him a murderer. Benzino is a fuckin dickhead and is tryin to bring eminem down in the music business but all he's doin is promotin him.

Well I heard the situation about Eminem first on the radio station.
When I first heard about the rap song Eminem made, I was like you bastid..lol, however the radio station said 10 minutes later that it happen like how long ago. Then I said to myself oh, why bring something up from the past. In any case it was brought up
and I feel Eminem needs to apologize some where like BET on 106 in park. That would seem like a genuine apology. Is Eminem really a racist...He could be, just because he works with black people doesn't mean he is not a racist. Now that's fact.


In my opinion I believe Eminem at the time meant what he said. Yes he was old enough to realize what he said, he wasn't drunk when he said those things, he was angry. And when your angry things that are held deep inside are said, even though you don't want to say them. I have read a few of you stating that he was a teenager when he did these lyrics..and stated that he was young and naive. That doesn't mean he didn't know what he was doing or that he didn't mean to say those comments, it just means he was stupid enough for recording it.
