let me put in though, the reason that some people are famous is because their abilities to make GOOD marketable songs.

DZK, IT, Illmaculate...they all make good songs...but they aren't marketable to the audience that is Commercial music.

Commercial music isn't about the lyrics when it comes down to it.
Its about the people. The feeling and the fun in music.

you don't have to be a lyrical genius to make a hit song.

....the song doesnt have to be tight if your as famous as him, people are sheep they go with the trend and what everyone else thinks is cool...
when yin yang came out with that gay ass piece of shit song whisper,im sure that got alotta downloads to,and was that song tight? no
and there are tons of gay ass songs out there that get alot of downloads to cuz the rapper or artist is famous.another example, im not saying ja rule is on em's level cuz hes not but im sure that there are still ja rule fans out there and he is wack as fuck.
and i do give eminem props,he overcame something no other white rapper ever could and was one of the best if not the best in his prime..but his prime is over..and that song was wack.
overall basicly what im saying is if your on mtv and winning grammys and have publicist,u can make shitty songs and theyll be on top of the charts.

........you act like the rapper actually has the creative controll over his music once hes signed anyway, and yeah u can be literally retarded and make a hit song, all u need is a catchy hook, with the right publicist.,or a&r...have u every seen soulja boy's little gay faggot dance to one of his songs,i cant believe people would actually do that dance at a 21 and over club, talk about a mass dumbing down of the country,
but back to the subject,
yeah mainstream and underground are completly different, and u should feel guilty in the raping and exploitation of the culture of hip hop if u even listen to the radio or mainstream...
a major lable overnight could take an average joe and make him famous the next day, throw some gucci clothes on him with a couple rented necklesses, get some garbage ghost writers, use some gay ass auto tune if he cant sing, and mix and master the shit out of his songs shoot a video with some dimes and hes your next paul wall...mainstream has almost absoloutly no talent in it..
