She has been in a vegetative state for the past 15 years. She was already pretty much dead as far as her nervous system was concered. It's really sad though, the condition she was in. I think anybody would want to pass away soon rather than finish life while not being able to really experience it. I mean, 15 years is a long time. Most of us on here are around ages 14-18, so think about how much you've experienced in your life...that's how much she missed before passing.

But does anybody know what they're going to do with her now?

Yes, a wrongful death suit is soon to be brought up. And I thought you of all people, Turban., knew what I was talking about. But part of that post just raised my curiousity...

Really? I thought they were . If you were serious, that's such an utter misconception...and you're the one trying to turn RV all intellectual...Let me kick some knowledge at you.

Are you aware of one of the main reasons why this has recently been in the news? The thing about this is, that upon death her husband wished for her to be cremated, but her parents want her to have a proper burial. This has generated a big hubub, since this is between 2 of the most important things in a person's life - family and love.
Personally I think she should be buried, because it's what her parents want, and I think the people who raise you since infancy have a bigger say over the person you're married to (if you have a good relationship with your parents, like she did). But mainly I think the husband shouldn't get his way because after all...he did make the decision to remove the feeding tube.

But that's just me, so what do you guys think should be done?

Well I'm not sure how much US news you're aware of in Canada, but recently it's been big in the news here.

I'm sure if you were in a situation where your parents were beefing with your husband over what to do with you after you pass away, everybody involved would care.

.Ike. 03-31-05 07:20 PM

yea this was extremely sad.....RIP....but honestly...i would want to die if i was in that situation...just not 15 years later...it was fucked up

..Decree.. 03-31-05 07:24 PM

i been following it on tha news sad sad day when we cant give someone food or water...an she wasnt brain dead on them audio tapes she was clearly sayin "yes" "no" an that she wanted to live..is fucked up...=1=

Crossword 03-31-05 07:31 PM

I totally agree with this happening, it's not like she had any uidea what was going on. You people saying "watch herself die" and things like that need to know... She was BRAIN DEAD...Which means, she was not concious or aware of anything going on. Since the brain is dead, there is no pain. Sure the body was suffering and dying... But there was nothing else to do.... Because lethal injection or "assisted suicide" i guess it would be called is illegal, but i think it should be legal.Life isnt life, If you cant LIVE it.

And you know whats interesting... The pope, though in a much better state and condition then Schiavo, will be put on a food tube soon because hes so sick. The fucked up thing is that if the food tube is what is keeping the Pope alive at some point, pulling it wont even be an option... Fuckin religion.

on her own willpower..

its wrong 2 let someone be a veggie

Blay'all 03-31-05 09:40 PM

^^ I agree with what he said...

Prez.Sence 03-31-05 09:46 PM

I think this got blown out of proportion. i mean, there are thousands of people in her state but she just got publication cuz she has been in the state for years.

Blay'all 03-31-05 10:18 PM

yeah and because of the amount of court cases
but its still a pretty sad situation

Actually, it was brought back into the news because of the disagreement between her parents and her husband. I posted about it above, so just scroll up if you think she was in the news for being a veggie for 15 years.
