The only reason there is even confusion on this subject is because of the mass media.

Radio stations saying they're playing the latest "hip hop" tracks... eg 50 cent, eminem etc., when they should be called rap or emcee tracks.

Same shit happened to breaking. It isnt even called breakdancing its called bboying, but because of the mass media back in the 80's labelling it incorrectly its false name is wider known..
