originality, delivery, live show presence, lyrical substance, audience connection and command, versatility, able to speak on something with intelligence rather than the usual gangsta, bitches, rims, get money, sell drugs, or nursery rhyme sing-a-song bullshyt, doesn't rely on guest appearances, is true to self AND the art...that about sums it up...

nah, what i look for in a artist is their influence. if they can make you feel a certain way with their music, then i believe they are truly blessed. not alot of artists can make you think or feel emotions, picture events and revive memorys. except a few. people like nas etc.
