yeh, i have a strong interest in rap and social issues. So i just assumed Im suppose to intertwine the two together. Simply becuase thats me,thats what Im about. But what Im tryna get at is......... will the industyr accept a no name mc speakign so deep and direct abotu shit without being labeled a wanna-B malcom X or a wanna B huey newton, a wanna B 2 pac.. Even though my approach to the issues are nothing like theres, I got my own veiw and own words to say....but I feel thats what any person who speaks out is labeled as. |

Yo take Mobb Deep for example.. these guys have been less known for the longest time, I mean they been dope since day one, recognized by the real Hip Hop fans.. its taken them forever but finally they sign with 50. Most people think they sellin out but they gettin noticed an they still doin shit their own way an I know their next CD will be sick. But they always stayed true to their own shit, they aint doin adidas commercial, faces on cereal boxes, they kept it real an now they gonna be recognized by everyone. Its not relevant but this one bitch asked if I heard of that new group that singed with G-Unit an called them Mod Deep. Fuckin dumb birds piss me off lol. But yeah, keep it real an your time will come.. the quote in my sig applies nicely to this thread. Your suppose to rap about what you know, sotry tellin is the only exception but make it known its a story an dont say the stories about you lol. If what you know is politics, get your shit out there, maybe people need to know what you know, you might have somethin worth listenin to.. an if you hold back cause of commercialism, then thas sellin out in a different way, namsayin? Keep it real, if you dont make millions atleast you can say you kept it real the entire time. |

So, being on a Wheaties box and selling addidas means ur not being "real"? I don't see it as that. If Mobb Deep isn't known, that's Mobb Deep's fault. 1 |
I just picked stereotypes for sellin out.
Mobb Deep isnt appreciated for what they are because of what they rap about... I mean they keep it real gutter an that doesnt apply to little girls or whatevrr, Im jus sayin cause it sounds like he wants to make it big without rappin about shit like NElly an all them. |
I chose that second option, but who here is an underground rapper? This shit's sub-underground.
|
I feel im underground..but not while im here.. i dont even class this site as anything to do with the industry, this is simply coneections and education on certain things to me.
but werd to juss one's sig. Ive come to the conclusion im'a do what the fuck I like, in my own style with my own expressions and opinions cause I know its goign to be effective. |
I feel I have to fucking rap.
Type of question was this. |

So your saying, you feel like you dont have to plan shit thru, think about whos going to be hearing it and acctually make it relevant to them. Oh yeh, im talkign about off the net aswell. This is all eralevant to the net life. Im saying, My mixtape for me is make or break, im making it in a studio, not with cool edit or any other self production bullshit. So its make or break, i cant go in there and be casual abotu what Im goign to make.. Im serious about my career in rap, so Ill go there serious and lay seriously dope tracks... |

When I make a mixtape, I'm not trying to get my music out to a certain group of ppl, I want my shit felt by everyone, I'm aiming to plz ppl like you, but I also gotta plz the chicken heads and the niggas. (No homo). |
im not an underground rapper....
I'm mainstream sucka :shoot: |

To an extent, impressing people is a big priority in making good rap music. I dont rap about many political issues because I would rather my music outlast currant world news.. An insightful and very true quote I remember goes like this. "A great mind discusses ideas, a smart mind discusses world events & a weak mind discusses people." Ofcourse this isnt the thought pattern for most rappers, but I'm not most rappers. & Although underground music can be really dope at times, its not an amazingly good goal or ambition to become an underground artist. But youll find most of them carry certain flaws that prevents them from going big time.. You have to know what people want to listen to and mold it into your own style or your career will go nowhere. Thats how the industry works and a lot of weak rappers get an easy run because their shit is so simple people understand it better. Thats where lyricism has its faults and I could go on for ages about the sort of stratigys that run through my head to counter attack this problem, but its best people make up their own ways of dealing with things like that. |
