Yeah man... I really got nothing to add after phenom's breakdown...

Just make sure you DEF put contact details in with ya shit, and dont promote ya shit all by yaself..

Get people who are down with ya movement to be getting ya cd's out for you aswell as hustlin em yaself... Personally I got around 20 people who are all interested in getting my cd's out to every single person they know.... Once everyone round towns heard ya shit, then thats the starting of ya fan base.. And that shit needs to be constantly spreading and doubling up every chance you get.

Its a 24/7 job being an up and comming rap artist.. But if you want to get big with ya music you cant be lazy. Thats rule number 1.

honestly man, that about covers every end of it. The only thing I'd plug in is an "OR" for step 1. I elected to NOT burn them my self since the labor was A: rediculous based on the time I had and B: wasn't as professional looking for what I was going for. Or should I say "who" which was labels, and to this day I don't regret it. It also cost me a lot less too, so I didn't lose sleep over giving out free copies. Check this out:

Pretty much explains it all. The top version will move a LOT more and will be heard more just based on perception alone. Labels also know that if you invest in your music (such as the presentation) that you're serious, instead of some miscellaneous person 'playing around' with music and seeing who would take you seriously, but now we're getting a little heavier into my favorite topic - marketing, which is a massive and complex discussion for another day. But the only cheaper alternative for me at the time was basic CDR's with slim cases and a marker, which = looks liek aboslute ass and won't move much of anywhere. Don't even bother doing it if you're not going to get AT LEAST print on your CD's because you'll find that no one will take an interest based on observations alone.

Phen, also, I'd add "glassing" to the list of shit that's not worth the money. It's a rediculous amount of money and will mean nothing to anyone's ears at this level, not to mention you have way better uses for that money. It'd be ill-matic if you made a tutorial out of it and put it in audio help :elbows you in ribs:

I actually asked Phenom about literally printing a label for the CD itself...I have software to do it...

so...I think Imma go with it...jus design something very simple...maybe White with the name of the CD...Track listing...

I use a prgram called Mediaface 4 that does all that

Costs nothing over the cost of the CD's.

If the resolution is high enough for what you're trying to, that would definitely the best way to go for a CD with no insert. Period. The marker method is definitely the worst, although cheapest.

I went to a local guy. All you need to find is someone with a burning station (which burns a rediculous amount of CD's in no time - and most nowadays can print in not just black, but R, G, and B as well). Eventually you'll get to the point that The Rush Ent. is at now where we've put out so many damn albums and so many copies of that album (5 full albums from June to October, and no less than 250 copies per album) that it just makes more sense for us to invest in a burning station of our own now. Then I'd make the money back by charging local emcees to do the same thing for them that I do for my self and boom, the station becomes TWO assets. One side of it generates our music, the other side of it generates income that covers the cost of our OWN CD's, inserts and cases.

Lets play chess.

YO i would say AFter you put out your Cd and you sold all your copies DOnt wait on
making another Cd,.....you got to keep your name out there.....you cant leave for a year and then expect people to remember who you are.......
If you keep providing new shit then you will keep selling new shit.....
becuase once you reached most the poeple in your area then you have no more costumers
SO you got to keep making musc LIke NOS. said...you cant be lazy...........
Make your name a house hold name......word

thats all i can add
