That made no sense? ok, maybe this will make sense:

bar1 Audio pronunciation of "bar" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (bär)
n.

14 Music.

1. A vertical line drawn through a staff to mark off a measure.
2. A measure.

so what, you have a beat on 3 beat hits instead of 4??? you'd be on a beat that's less than half a staff??? how the hell would you even write that out lmao.

..cmon now man you're talkin crazy talk lol. That wouldn't even be "correct" musically. a bar is 4 beat hits, no matter what your tempo.

3/4ths is a tempo? since when?

TeamOne 04-16-06 11:54 PM

lmfao........ are u kiddin? almost ANY TWO NUMBERS CAN BE A MEASURE....... 7/8 time

Beats are in 4/4 time...So, one bar is 4 "ticks" of the beat...

So, 16 bars is the amount of words/syllables you can fit in 64 ticks of the beat

Normally, it's 16 lines, with the last word hitting the 4th beat...But, as with any good emcee, I don't stick to that format and my syllables spill over to the next bar...

I hate when people try to diss you by pulling out a word you spelled incorectly.

Blay'all 04-17-06 01:26 AM

yeah, on this site everybody (particularly textees) always act like a bar is 2 lines, but if u listen to people spittin "16 bars", its just 16 lines...

TeamOne 04-17-06 06:28 AM

wen did i say 3/4 was a tempo?????? i sed "3/4" time...... and 3/4 could be a tempo the.... just the most ridiculously slowest fuckin tempo ever..... and show me how "i" and "a" are anywhere close on a keyboard...... u just tried to act like u were a genius lat everything as usual and made no sense...... lmfao staccato???? why would that even matter...... now of u had sed fermata their may have been some relevance but staccato is already obviously not gonna change the tempo at all..... i was only askin if a BAR is a MEASURE and u have a beat that is written in 3/4 TIME..... than wouldnt it be 3 beat hits???? it was a hypothetical......

Immense 04-17-06 06:49 AM

apexx is right...

time signatures are always 4/4...you could make a beat using an odd time signature but it wouldnt sound right...cos your snares need to be in the right position...snares are almost always on the same beat in every song...

listen to a song...most verses are 16 bars......and a hook is normally 8 bars....not saying it has to be...but thats standard...

google it and look for something about counting bars...its pretty easy to learn how to count them...

i wonder wat a hypothetical is doin........ i wasnt sayin anythin more than wouldnt a bar be 3 beats if ur in 3/4 time...... and Jack, it wasnt the fact as much that he spelled it wrong, but that he tried to use a word that had no relevance to wat we were talkin about...... and on top of that, he didnt even spell it right.... like wat would staccato do to the tempo or time signature???? absolutely nothing...... so why even bring it up.... im the nerd, yet u try to act like u have a Masters in every subject in every thread of RV

True...staccato would do nothing to time signature

Oh...and how do I know anything about music?...Well, I was in the band from 6th grade, all the way through my freshman year of college. I played the clarinet, E-flat clarinet, bass clarinet, tuba, and baritone. I was the drum major in my high school's marching band. So, I know a thing or two about music.

As for beats, I have never heard one in 3/4 time. Maybe one song with Saigon called "favorite things"...If that beat he uses in that song isn't 3/4 time, then he flows it like it is.

It's all 4/4.

∆ P E X X 04-17-06 02:54 PM

lemme see if I got this right...your biggest point of argument is how I spelled staccato and a hypothetical beat that dosen't even exist nor would be "correct"....

yeah.

so what's your point again?

And what's it have o do with this:

BTW, by stacato I mean LYRICALLY not musically, since we're talkin about LYRICS!!! Like Twista, drag, bonethug, etc. That's considered stacato spit. aka machinegun. aka doubletime. So how the hell you get anything of a beat out of that? you're talking about a beat that's missing a hit, and by defintion wouldn't be a beat. orr.....an OFFbeat beat and asking how people would rap on an off-beat beat??

right.

WhoAmI 04-17-06 03:59 PM

one bar is 4 crotchet notes or "beats" (in terms of your average hip hop) song

but that depends on the time signature of the tune
