I've always thought it'd be kind of cool to burn a church down.

So it did upset you? Why? I can see you are very short-sighted when it comes to God, and you don't really see things as they are. Humans created the church... It's worth nothing to Jesus. It's a big building, made by fools trying to get closer to God. Ring any bells? Tower of Babel maybe? Whats a few cups, a bit of silverware, and stained glass windows to God? These are worldy things, things we shouldnt care about, things that shouldnt matter, even distractions from God. If I burnt down a church, then next Sunday it's congregation came and found the ashes, it should not phase them one bit. They should continue their congregation sitting by the church, or in somebody's house. You know who told me that? A christian. One of the greatest christians I have ever met, and it's a shame he has to be classified with the other mindless fools. Christianity is no longer a religion, its a business and a scapegoat. Families go to church on Sunday to feel better about themselves, and feel as though they are doing something right. Isn't that selfish? To use christianity as a little escape from their sin-filled lives, without taking to heart the teachings of their supposed "God"? Do you do that Q? I know I did. I went to church when I was agnostic, and I did when I was atheist. I did when I was a skeptic, but now I believe in Jesus and spirituality, and I dont go to church anymore. Quote:
Jesus was a man. That was the whole point of him coming to earth to save us. He was a man, and he lived a mans life and died a horrible, painful death as a man. I'm not saying he wasn't God, but you can't say he wasn't a man. It's written all over the gospels. I'll tell you something about this "friends with God" stuff. 95% of Christians that i've met, I can tell DO NOT know god as a friend. They say they do, but it's obvious they dont. Jesus is God's provision to humanity, true. But its a shame that even his so-called "followers" reject him and embrace sin. Quote:
I'm not showing bigotry towards it, i'm just talking about it in a different light, a light that was brought forth by Jesus philosophies and teachings, and not seeing it in a way that was created by society and man. You just believe what you're told, and register what you've read from the bible. You don't ponder it... You CANT ponder it. Look at whats around you, so many distractions, so many lies, so many temptations. Your mind is rushing through so many thoughts, I bet you've never had the time to sit and think about things as they are. "Why must I meditate?" demanded the prince of his teacher. "I can study. I can pray. I can think on issues clearly. Why this silly emptying of the mind?" "I will show you," said the teacher, taking a bucket of water into the garden under the full moon. "Now I stir the surface and what do you see?" "Ribbons of light," answered the prince. "Now wait," said the teacher setting the bucket down. Both teacher and boy watched the calming surface of the water in the bamboo bucket for many minutes. "Now what do you see?" asked the teacher. "The moon," replied the prince. "So, too, young master, the only way to grasp enlightenment is through a calm and settled mind" |
