Sadly my friend, to a radio station, your stats your pictures, what ever projects and preformances you have out etc are all but irrelevant. the only thing a station is interested in is listens or "ratings". There is a high strategy that goes into making it on the radio, as well as into a label hands, or to any other point in the music industry. truth be told there really isn't much "luck" involved. The "luck" is in getting someone that's important to your cause to make the time to listen to your music. If you got selected....it's not because of luck. believe me. if you don't, it doesn't mean you don't have skills. The person listening could love your music and just can't do anything with it. You're just not what they're looking for. And this applies to any mainstream music outlet, be it a label, a station, a venue, anything. |
tha q still askin a forum 99% of which have never done anything past this or other forums for advice in the music business... especially when the people that are REALLY doing anything, dont like him or his attitude... nice to things never change round here.

Well, logically you'd think that if you were able to get performances in major places or whatever and the turnout was decent, and they see that you have enough listeners, there would be a better chance that you could find the bigger producers and they would pay attention...which would put you a step ahead of the others who have done nothing worth mentioning. My mindstate was it's the same thing...in writing, you have to struggle to find a good publisher/agent out there, and you have to attract their attention --- and with the high supply of manuscripts (aka songs in this case), they're looking for people who have prior experience and could make their job easier. It's easy to assume the same rules would apply, and having people chant your name would in a good deal of cases put you in a bad position because that editor/agent/radio man gets hundreds of requests and having people constantly scream at them to play so-and-so, you'd think that person would be agitated.
You do have to admit I had a legitimate case...the similarities of getting yourself out there are astounding: 1. Both are constantly flooded with requests. 2. Both spend long amounts of time on going through these requests. 3. Both get thousands of amateur requests and they get agitated, and if they're in a bad mood from all these idiots submitting to them, they'll be picky at things like people calling them over and over. 4. Both are looking for a positive profit from the requests they do endorse: a good amount of listeners for a song, or a good amount of sales for a book. So it's a logical mistake to make that they would both go by the same basic code of conduct. But, you're the one with the experience in the music industry. |

lol @ pay them to play it.
fuck that, just have connections. Youl be suprised who knows cats at radios. or simply go to the radio station and be like, what up, im here. listen, play it. The worst they can say is no. Or simply create a independant fanbase in your area, get support tell them to request the song, all in time with you emailing them with your song and shit. And Im sure in the US they have unsigned hype nights on certain stations, we do in NZ. So yeh, get at them. |

HELL NO....if u pay the radio ta play ur shit that just means ur gettin ur untalented useless wack ass on the radio cuz u payed for it...that dont mean shit....if u make good enough shit and give it to a local radio station they gon play ur shit..u think ur really as good as u think u are then u shouldnt have ta pay ta play..thats like using cheat codes ta get u through the game |
^^hate to bust your bubble but nearly every song you hear on a mainstream station is there because someone paid for it. Peoples careers are built on it. it's called payola and it's common pratice.
