If you put it into a visionary perspective, if everybody loved thy enemy, there will be no enemy, but since this isnt the case, loving thy enemy dispells the ego and ultimately gives you a lasting inner peace. The reason you "take no shit" in the first place is because society has this canonical understanding for what makes a real man. Its all a sham and if you hate thy enemy, dont you ever expect to be happy.
