yeah Jr's got some nice music..but the only song i can really bump that he made was like Grill Em' the rest are just YO MAN CHECK THIS LINE OUT type of tracks like mixtape ordeals thats what his cd reminded me...a hyped up mixtape...but Jae Millz can spit i like him more.........as for Joe Budden..he can outrap about 99 percent of the commercial rappers in the game

Zone Out 03-10-07 01:10 AM

wait
pause
you like GRILL EM but you dont like any of his other shit?!
SMH
HIP HOP IS DEAD!!!!

How did Tupac not have dope lines? Just cuz they weren't quotables with wittyness or wordplay/metaphors doesn't discredit his lines. There's not a single quotable in You Never Know by Immortal Technique but that's still a fucking dope song... There's nothing you'd consider a "dope line" in Dance With The Devil but that's a dope song too... Diabolic has some of the illest lines i've ever heard

"I show no 'cum-passion' like a straight faced orgasm " - Diabolic
"Can't freestyle, you're screwed off the top like bottle caps" - Diabolic

But... Diabolic doesn't make better music then half the cats in the industry.

But lets go by your logic of what makes a rapper better. So if I were to say CopyWrite was my favorite rapper, and quote his lines like

"I creep low with the freak ho's, honest bitch
I got a dick a giraffe couldn't deep throat"

"7/8 never fake
Leave you in the middle of nowhere like the letter H"

I doubt you can find lines from JR or Budden better then that...

HipHop's not all about lyrics, you're right but lyrics is a part of it. Lyrics/flow/delivery/enojoyment/beat/hook/voice/catchyness basically makes a song. Jeezy can certainly have a catchy hook...im not denying he's good..but he's NOT the best in ANY of those categories. Weezy has a nice flow, but he doesn't have the best flow either. To me, each section is broken down nah mean...Lyrics has like 3 subsections, even more. Flow too...etc. you won't b able 2 tell who'se the single, or the best two rappers period. They might b the best in a certain category in rap...

But weezy and Jeezy aren't best in any category for me...the nigga with the most all roundness, could b cats like Joe Budden...but he falls in some categories..that's why theres a million reasons why you could say any1 is the best when he the best in a CERTAIN part of rap.

Zone said JR and Buddens...JR is tight lyrically and flow wise...howeverr his hooks ren't catchy enough, and the other categories he falls in the middle he's not the best at enoyment for example...

Buddens, he could be all round..def one of the gr8est..and I had the pleasure of meeting and a quick free with him...

So my take on it is that you can't rlly decide an all round best ya figgadig...but weezy and jeezy don't fall top in any of those categories...

"I get rid of white.. treys, pounds, O's, bricks, shit... I was raised around stoves
Watch brown froze.. it astound hoes... and fuck the internet, all my girls downloads"

"im the shit, another baller with toast
Think you're too cool, imma put it all in ya coat
so you better act frogish or float
cause the only thing leapin is ya voice with that frog in ya throat"

"i am made, queer
keep me an eight near
that'll squeeze and leave ya ass deeper than Shakespear"

"Give the mac some credit.. I been had this leverage
SHITTIN ON NIGGAS LIKE I HAD A NASTY FETISH!"

be fa real, niggas aint fuckin with jr writer

Enygma 03-10-07 09:46 AM

Hey Zone.....I was agreeing with ya about this, but I never really listened to JR. I can say it's true about Joe Budden cause he's been in my top five for a long time, but those couple of lines that you just posted weren't really all that great. I'm guessing they're JR lines cause I never heard them before......I guess I got some more listening to do...lol

But yeah, Jeezy and Weezy are like one level above Mike Jones to me. I really can't stand either of them most of the time, but every once in a while they'll do something that suprises me.

Sir Smash'Alot 03-10-07 09:53 AM

A good song is different from a good line

ANYBODY can come up with a good line if he wants
but do I want my song to be remembered? Or my line?
DO i want 5 seconds of a song to be hot? or all 3-5 minutes? seriously zone..

And weezy and jeezy suck they both fall off topic to the same boring drug dealing shit

joe is def better then jr writer though

and four jeezys and four weezys all in one x2.

16 bars that all go together, and all have a purpose > 8 set-ups, and 8 punchlines.

Fucking word.

I can say Brother Ali is the most poetically/lyrically dope rapper I've ever heard in my life, but I'd be extremely hesitant to call him the best rapper ever. I have trouble coming up with a top 10 list, fuck trying to narrow it down to one, some rappers aren't even comparable to others. Like, how the fuck do you compare Jay-Z and Murs?

You can't. *shrugs*

Hes a pretty well rounded rapper

but he doesnt have nearly enough material to be the best

Zone Out 03-10-07 01:05 PM

Murs is completely ass.
and all of JR's tracks arent just set ups and punchlines
sometimes they're ALL punchlines..
like fa real
but he also rap about some shit with content and he STILL manages to throw punchlines in their that are still revelant.
