what people dont realise is, you may have somebody whos mixing is shit hot(like apexx) and yes the quality maybe good too, but the fact is the vocals would possibly require more editing to make them sound crisp than they would in an expensive studio, why??? because of the setup and the quality it records at. the studio mics tend to create alot less static/hiss sound, sometimes none what so ever, they also pick up more of ya voices natural frequency's e.t.c... then obviously theres the boards they use which allow to switch things as you record in order to make the recorded quality even better, and thats before the editing has started.
to put it bluntly, ive been in studios where the recording quality BEFORE EDITING, sounds ten times better than ANY home recorded stuff that has been mixed and edited really well... for those who still dont get it... theres only so much you can do with an average or pretty good sounding recording, but you can do alot more with a totally crisp sounding recording.
