It really depends on the clapper.

If the clapper is one who meets his palms together 'it' meaning the sound will actually be more vibrant and deep. This is because of the skin's mass, it's speed, and force of wind. It is actually the sound of air being blasted and ruptured thus creating a sound coming off as a short, small boom.

One who claps his finger bones or skin together on the bottom side of the hand (compared to your hands being flat on a table) will obviously make more of a small slap sound, due to the fiber in his skin and the strength of his bones if they are involved in the clashing, clapping fingers. You have a better chance of getting a louder clap from the underside of your fingers clapping, by clapping them diagonally - because this also creates small packets of skin to force wind out of, depending on the fingers of the person, also.

Golf claps are aligning your fingers perfectly straight but at a different dimension, usually if you are right handed you will place your right hand under your left, perfectly straight, left handed you'd shift which hand to place under.
