Compression is great. It helps out a shitload when you have a lot of volume variables in your verse. Like, you come in soft and calm, then you get all loud and angry, then come back down with a calm ending.....it makes all that sound like one level without destroying the quality or natural delivery you bring to it. I use it on every track just to get the volume straight all the way through the verse :thumbup:
