Having a partner you knew you could trust your entire life from the start, and losing everything great between you except for losing your partner, in the end, when only not being lonely doesn't matter, means you still have something good.

Then again, I'm only talking this way 'cuz I think I'm loved. lol, and all of mine and her situations are exactly the same in relationships, neither of us drink alcohol or do hard drugs, so cheating is a sober act for us, unlike what happened to you L.E. No offense, but if that was her excuse, 'cuz you got drunk one time and did something stupid, well at least I won't have that excuse in my relationship.
