To me, it's a difference of agendas. Mainstream heads seem to be sooooo into making money and becoming famous that they totally forget what hip-hop is about. Then UG heads seem to be trying so hard to stay "true" hip-hop and keeping it real that they don't remember what really makes a good song anymore.

Those are both the extremes. If you notice, any legendary emcee is in the middle. Jay-Z, Biggie, Tupac, Nas, and so many more. The 50 Cents, Chingys and Nellys will never be legends just as the Diabolics, the MF Dooms and the Sage Francis' never will be either.
