Honestly, no one can be right in this arguement.

It's a matter of opinion. How it starts, what it becomes, is all in the circle of life. Now, it is about the money, whether it should be is just a matter of opinion. Personally, I don't believe money should be our motivation to do something we love because eventually that money will corrupt you and your morals will be gone. I value my creativity, my passion, and what makes me a good person.

The thing I think that sets underground and mainstream apart, is if money is your only motivation or just your main. Cuz everyone wants money, let's face it. You wouldn't do something that cost you money and made you nothing at all, that's not logical. Money is a motivation for me, but not my main one. I want to help people, and music is the best way and I love music.

But ya, basically argueing bout this is pointless. Cuz you won't change someone on how they feel. If you believe money is what you need to survive, then you are very foolish and need to re examine your life.

rap music is about the money.

hip hop is about the lifestyle.

thats my point.... rap music, do you see ANY of them showing love or showing people the other aspects of hip hop???(beatbox, graff e.t.c)... hell no you dont.

anyway apexx, thats majourly fucked up... sum1 who is more or less one of the original hip hop MC's gets no respect when he passes, that goes to show how the industry doesnt respect the culture e.t.c and only respect the money.

^^yup.

that's the same exact thing I felt. You couldn't even take a moment to honor a dude who made it possible to do what you do?

the industry is completely heartless man.

not that i'm against you, but your message is goin against itself, what's wrong with people liking certain people you don't? It's arguable to like almost any artist so don't say someone is stupid cuz they like a certain person. N BTW, Hip-Hop = Culture, Rap = Music.

Nynth Degree 07-19-06 03:25 PM

Says someone who can't get any 13 year-old girls to sing along with his catchy hooks. [/noobzilla]

chronix 07-19-06 04:30 PM

Nynth Degree 07-19-06 05:16 PM

no dude. u got it twisted.

people say shit like "dnt hate on so n so cos they make money" but what theyre doing isnt hip hop, they arent showing love to the lifestyle.

hip hop is MUSIC, bboy, graff, beatbox.

rap is a form of music evolved from hip hop when the money started taking over from the passion.

but yeh apexx, i dnt even kno wat to say bout no1 covering it.

chronix 07-19-06 10:25 PM

Hip Hop is a culture...culture is art (including music as well), language, and dance...The 5 elements of Hip Hop cover all that so it can be viewed as a culture. Rap is the music part of hip hop. Rap wasn't formed from money etc...Rap was formed simply from hip hop and it just earned money and rappers started rapping about other things. Sugarhill Gang, Furious 5, that's all rap...So yea, even though D4L isn't good, they're still hiphop, they're just really really really wack (imo atleast).

leady 07-20-06 03:46 AM

nah the way i see it is.

hip hop music, is the form of rap that is aimed at the culture, still showing respect to the roots e.t.c.

rap/hip pop as i call it, imo is what derived from the gangsta rap era which was the start of the money hungry rappers coming out.

see, i refuse to say sum1 like 50 centis part of my culture, because hip hop has a very bad name due to people like him, its got a history ofviolence, and is beleived to evolve round guns drugs money and "hoes"/the disrespect of women. when infact the REAL hip hop culture is far from that... but people have been driven to beleive otherwise because of what these ignorant annoying record execs keep pushing out.

M&rk 07-20-06 04:11 AM

make good lyrical songs on your own time... make catchy songs for money and butt naked hoes
