No, tell me the point of life... Not the point of your life, not the point of anybody else's life. The real point of life.

Everyone is connected by many central aspects..

But we are all here for different reasons...

Including those who are immortal.

Mad Dog 09-25-06 05:02 AM

here's one thing...

immortality sounds like a good thing

BUT

people see it as they'd never age...

BUT

what if you chose immortality unaware that you'd continue to age???

Terumoto 09-25-06 05:02 AM

wtf was that... Tell me the point of life, I dont care about individuals or whatever being here for little reasons. Tell me the point of life, all kinds of life, what is the point of life existing?

didn't you make a thread about doing pointless things???

you'd be in ya element if you were immortal then wouldn't ya

Terumoto 09-25-06 05:11 AM

Yeah man, that would be ill. I could spin around on my office chair for all eternity.

To live.

Terumoto 09-25-06 05:21 AM

So... You're saying its pointless?

Nope..

I SAID, that every individual self is here for its own specific list of purposes.

You wanted a more vague answer..

So 'to live' means we are here to live out our lives for our individual purpose.

Terumoto 09-25-06 05:39 AM

You're just dodging the question. What is the point of life? You can't tell me, because in the big picture life is meaningless.

I'm not dodging any questions..

Your just trying to catagorise something more complex than you can comphrehend.

Terumoto 09-25-06 05:46 AM

On the contrary, aren't you the one categorizing? Im trying to look at the point life and existence on the whole, you're telling me that every person has their little goals and point in life, which gives it meaning.

Lmao..

If you cant understand what I've said..

Then your not looking at it right...

Terumoto 09-25-06 05:52 AM

And if you can't understand what I've said, you're not looking at it right.

You still haven't just told me the point of life. And I know why.

Life is for the individual that is working for the collective. If you lived forever, your purpose would ofcourse contain some similaritys to other people existing in this world, but it wouldnt contain an end like theirs does.

Dont try and understand a sole point to life... You dont have access to the information required to make any form of feasable answer.

But.....back to the point.....Your fear of immortality is a petty human fear.

If you were born immortal, this fear wouldnt exist in your mind and instead you would occupy yourself with more wordly matters..

Humans are only concearned with the afterlife because they have to face it.

Terumoto 09-25-06 06:10 AM

I am not concerned with the afterlife, and if I was immortal I would just deal with it in the same way I deal with living my life now.

And what is the point of the collective?

Mad Dog 09-25-06 06:13 AM

oh btw...i AM immortal

strobe 09-25-06 07:24 AM

So how would this immortality work? Will you ever get hurt or injured? Or will you be like Wolverine where you just heal eventually? Maybe I'll become a hitman or something. Just hope I don't get caught and get sent to life in prison... cuz that would really blow. Then you've also got to wonder what will happen if the world as you knew it ended and you are the only one left. That would be really boring.

You forgot to answer what are the virtues of death?

If a Welsh man was the only human on earth he wouldn't be bored as long as there was plenty of sheep around still

strobe 09-25-06 07:58 AM

If there were animals, sure you can keep yourself entertained, even if you aren't banging them.. But think of it like the pictures of Mars... nothing around but dirt, mountains, and valleys. Not even little green men running around. I could sleep all day, but after a few months, I'll get bored eventually.

true...but is it was me i'd start looking for life out there...think of it, an eternity to work out how to invent things that were destroyed you'd be able to work shit out coz if one person can invent TV...you could probably invent it through infinite trial and error, same as if you tried to invent a rocket, lets face it...if it blows up...ya gonna survive and if we're talkin Immortal as "indestructable" you're gonna survive and start again...and if ya not...well i'd always make a remote controlled rocket 'n' shit i'd test it using dummy's and what not...it's possible if you have infinite time to prepare...

-TeamOne- 09-25-06 08:06 AM

soon enough your gonna run outta shyt to make a rocket with

and what do you think rockets are made with now?...

more people are using them today than just one person...seriously i think there would be plenty of supply's for one person...think of the amount of fuel you'd be able to use considering as there would be no more cars, buses, bikes, planes, boats or anything that uses useable gases 'n' shit...like i said, trial and error you may be able to formulate how to use "less" to get "more" ya get me...you may not know now but we didn't come through millions of years of evolution to not know the things we know today...and it would only take time (something you have infinite of) to work it out yourself

although before i made a rocket i'd make a brewery... :spit:

It helps us at least enjoy life.

Now, what is the point of the collective?

The point of the collective is to survive, advance, reproduce and spread.

If you truely believe you can only enjoy life with a definite end to this existance for you. Then good for you...

Everyones different I guess.

Nynth Degree 09-25-06 11:08 AM

I would chose to be immortal under one condition: If it was my own, uninfluenced will to die, I could let myself die. Just in case I completely fucked my life up somehow and didn't wanna continue with it.

then u wouldn't be immortal...

immortals can't die...that's the whole point of being immortal, giving up your right to die...

Whats the point of the collective doing that?

Thats literally what almost all lifeforms do minus the advance bit.

Even single cell organisms just survive, reproduce, spread and grow.

The point of it is, you are here, and you dont want your species to die off.

Something that isnt required by the immortal.

Terumoto 09-25-06 07:57 PM

Yeah, but WHY are life forms even there in the first place...

Theres absolutely no reason for existence to exist.

God man..

The innitial cause..

THINK for yourself sometimes...

This is why I said dont try to understand what you dont have any information to study..

Terumoto 09-25-06 08:02 PM

And why? If there was a "god" who did some sort of thing and created the universe, wtf did he do it for? Why was that god even there? Why was there a bang so big?

Can't you see what im saying... Doesnt matter what caused the universe, it's still not here for any particular reason.

I think you must read what I say, but just not actually take it in.

I said dont try to understand these things.. You are saying its all pointless as a result of your primative mortal understanding of the universe.

Do you seriously think you got it all worked out man?

Shits hilarious...

Terumoto 09-25-06 08:06 PM

Don't you realize, you're saying that the universe has a point, from your primitive mortal understanding of the universe?
