PC users telling mac users to stfu isn't shutting up.. PC users get pissed off with macs and mac users for whatever reason, and vice versa.

However... The bottom line is PC users don't use macs, but the majority of mac users switched to macs from PCs. It means if [the majority of] mac users have a bias, it is was developed POST switch, while [the majority of] PC users have a bias to the ONLY side they have experienced.

So who are you honestly going to believe?

The argument from PC users against that will be "Nah dude, lol, I've used a mac before, and it was shitty so my opinion still stands." My answer to that in the form of a question is to what degree? Just using one at school or at a friends place or some shit doesn't really cut it. You haven't actually used the mac in your mind, you've just used something different to the PC you always use. Humans + new things = not good. It's like if you get a new phone or some shit, you don't really know your way around it and it seems foreign, you prefer your old phone because you knew everything about it. But over time you get to know the new phone and it becomes as familiar as your old one. Probably that was a bad analogy.

Anyway, I don't know why anyone would say macs suck or aren't as good for work as PCs and all that shit. First of all, Macs can run office, and even if they couldn't there are apps for mac that do the same thing. But maybe macs arent suitable for large scale business because of their price... Fair enough. Is "work" limited to spreadsheets and word documents? Macs are used for work, for different kinds of work. Macs are the industry standard in the media side of work, because they are just better at that shit than PCs are. Plain and simple. They are just as good at number crunching as well, but aren't as easy and cheap to obtain for that shit.

I mean think about it... PCs are used in big businesses. The way they work there is they will get a few powerful systems to use as servers, and have all of the data, programs, and whatever else on those servers. That will cost them maybe a few thousand dollars per machine. Then they just buy nodes, access point PCs that have no hard drives, barely any ram or processing power, and they just run everything off of the servers.

Unless you are paying over $2000 or a lot more for your PC, you are just running a hotted up node. Example, a cheap "decent" dell PC will cost you maybe $500... Around there anyway. $500 for a PC that can't do jack shit and is NOT worth $500. What are the main components of a PC?

GPU (vid card)
sound card
hard drive/s

RAM

case

Here is how much each of those components would cost, if you were building a PC with the same specs as a $500 dell.

mother board - Max $30
power supply - Included in case

Processor - $80 (they would spend less and give you a 1.88GHz cpu, this would probably get you an AMD athlon 64 3800, 2.4GHz)
disk drive/s - Max $7 (About the best DVD burner you can buy would cost you less than $30, you can get a really good one for $15, or even less)
RAM - They would give you 512MB DDR, you can get a stick of 512MB DDR ram for a few bucks...
Monitor - 15 inch LCD display, less than $100
case - Max $60


Total - $351

Keep in mind, this $350 PC costs more than it should have, because of the processor being better than what Dell would give you. Every single one of dells computers is similar to this, costing far more than it's worth. You could even buy yourself a graphics and sound card and STILL be paying less than $500. Dell uses the graphics and sound chipset included on the motherboard for their PCs if you dont specify you want actual standalone cards. And Dell probably buys their components for a lot cheaper than that. So wtf are you paying for? Labor? The PCs are put together by machines.

Every PC company does that. Every single one, and the gap between the value of what youre paying for and what you pay for it is HUGE. I even do it, it's awesome. People actually think computers cost that much.

Anyway, my point is apple does it too, but to a far lesser extent. Macs are generally considered expensive, but they don't cost much more than what PC companies charge for PCs. The difference is the value... Apple uses top of the line components, PC dealers use the cheapest components. I think Apexx was saying before that out of a mac and a PC with the same specs, the mac would run better by far. It's because of the quality and efficiency of the components.

Another thing apple does differently is carefully design their systems and the relationship of the components. You can put together a top of the line PC with top of the line components, but it will never reach it's supposed potential, because the components aren't designed to compliment each other, they are just thrown together. I have a PC like that, and a mac with the same specs would just run better than it, because of of not only good components, but good components designed to work together to create an efficient system.

You would be able to feel the difference if you used a mac for the things macs are praised for, then tried to do the same thing on a PC.

Anyway, about my opinion on the mac vs PC thing... It doesn't actually matter. The debate matters elsewhere, but it doesn't make a bit of difference for like 99% of people arguing about it. Mainly because the people who are important and who will actually be affected by the differences between mac use and PC use don't give a shit about what a bunch of people who use their computers to chat, check their myspace and post on forums think about the issue. You might be thinking "LOL, fat chance, no way im like that... I play PC games and edit music, I make graphics on a pirated version of photoshop etc etc" ... You have obviously used PCs all your life and don't want to use a mac because you are used to PCs and mac OS doesn't support as many games as windows does... Jesus Christ, I don't really give a fuck about Macs. If I had enough money to buy the Mac I want, I would have bought it over a PC at the same price, I know that they're better for the money and all that, but I didn't have the money. However, I am supremely annoyed at all the self-righteous Mac users who never shut the fuck up about how much better it is.

There is no fucking Mac community, just a bunch of people who happen to use the same kind of computer. If it's better than PC's it matters of course, but not to the point where you have to try and go shove it down everyones throat. Dude... There is NOTHING a mac can't do that a PC can do. Absolutely NOTHING... If all else fails, and mac OS for some reason can't do something (which is very rare), macs can run PC operating systems. So like... There you go. There's one thing macs have over PCs... PCs can't run mac OS. They can with emulators, but not natively like macs can.

All you've done is say "Yo, PCs can do these things on this one program, take a hike macs." One program with a few gimmicks isn't PCs as a whole, and that one program either has a mac equivalent or can be run on macs.

Mac = Repair Disk Permissions, Windows = System Restore. No big difference. There isno real difference between the two now. dude there's a program called Calico that's been stitching images together in 360º even spherical 3D format for ages, that's nothin new. matter fact, LOTs of programs on the mac stitch images together in spherical (meaning "create an entire world") 3D format. that's shit we were doin since Panther, when CoreGraphics were born. And that's before you even loot at Node Box and other similar programs, which have been creating 3D visual worlds with photos for ages - which you can save as movie files to show other people on other computers i might add lol.
