Lol, well I don't agree at all. The russian martial art that i'm talking about DID originate as a form of violence. And yes, biting, pulling hair, lowblows, using anything you can grab as a weapon, IS a form of martial arts. It all depends wich martial arts. And it's legal to give a lowblow in Muay Thai, if you cop a lowblow that's your own damn fault, you gotta protect your shit. |

Ya but not everyones like us, he doesn't seem like he'd be into getting serious in MMA anyways |

Oh, and what are YOUR credentials? Lmao You're saying you need atleast 10 years to get good in a single martial arts, dude, please... |

Just do Judo... It seems most suited for you. |
Q, dont listen to those guys saying you should do mixed martial arts. As a beginner trying to learn, it would be difficult to do more than one and progress in both at the same time. Mixed martial arts are more effective, the people who have been saying this have probably seen international free-style fighting competitions and noted that the people who go well in those often dont adhere to one style and use a combination of many.
Maybe once you get into a particular style a fair way, it would be beneficial for you to try out a new style if you are enjoying martial arts and are serious about it. But until then just choose one and go with it. It looks like you've narrowed it down to Muay Thai and Judo. Just do a bit of research on both and see which one appeals more to you. By the way, Muay Thai may be referred to in America as Thai Boxing, so if youre having trouble finding a place for it that might be why. |
is Muay Thai a mixed Martial Arts?
I dont get the idea of mixed martial arts, do you mean going two diffrent ones at the same time? |
Imma do either Muay Thai or Judo
Thanks |

What kind of mixed martial arts? Was it like an american place that said "mixed martial arts"? You do realise that the professionals are originally masters of one particular martial art, then according to any weaknesses in that style they train in other martial arts to fill any gaps. Never once do they attempt to learn "mixed martial arts", they specialise in each style and find good teachers that know their style very well. After this they end up using mixed martial arts in fights. Other mixed martial arts just take a few moves from various styles = far less effective form of mixed martial arts. |
I did Tae Kwon Do for five years. I got all of the weapons and then stopped because it was getting boring and repatitive.
|
I'm excited to start...It's been something I've wanted to do for years...finally got enough nerve to do it.

Umm take someone that has trained one form of martial arts for the time period that I have trained MMA, and I would put a hefty bet on me being more effective. I train in Iowa... at an academy that has produced a UFC fighter... and have worked out with several of the Miletich fighters... So I know "the professionals" and they mostly came from my background... |
