yo how'd ur ofsaas go fagnut?

you win? or get basically wrecked by those boonie schools...

Mad Dog 05-30-06 08:52 AM

i respect both sides (text & audio)

seeing as i have been involved in both departments

and when i was here text was the main part of this site

but most heads have switched it up to audio and that is the new main objective of text

personally i would say pick up a mic...coz if you wanna stick to text...don't expect to diss me on open mic and expect me to respond wit another open mic lol...coz that ain't happening...lol...

but guys like Nick Fletcher hold down text nicely...and Troop...you were considered the best on this site...you gotta aim high again lol...

audio > text

text/audio (for the people who have no aspirations to pick a mic up)

i'm rambling on now

Audio is what all the cool kids are doing.

I agree with you... this site was all text when I first started..then it switched to majority audio.. which is good.... but I just havent been bothered... I hate actually having to write to a beat n shit...like normally text wise.. there is no beat for me when I do it.... so i can piece it together with whatever flow I want.... Im just shit otherwise... i wanna get into it n shit... but right nowwww its like 100% garbage... werd..

the problem with text is that since it's so formless and lines can be as long as you desire them to be, one wouldn't be as vigilant on their own bad habits, so their bad habits become "the way". writing over a beat feels like they're trapped, because they were so used to writing how ever long they wanted. That's all well and good, but in truth and in fact, ones "lyical talent" that they were building all this time wont be effective anywhere else but where the problem came from - formlessness in text. Freestyling on a beat or rapping their songs out over music? not going to be very successful, since they're not used to having a line-length format and lack that discipline completely. The can only get around this when they re-train their mind and learn this discipline. Everyone can make that adjustment, just that some do and some don't.

^And that's why there is a rift between "audio" and "text".

I agree with you completely apexx.... because I keep thinking in my mind of lines that were sweet and stuff that I wrote.... but then when it comes to putting it into a tack or lyrics to a beat..its hard to do / it doesnt come out the same way I intended it to. I ususally have to slow up the flow when a beat is on, or I try to flow the words to the beat... either way I have the line lenght somewhat with text due to the rules and shit here..so my lines arent super long.. but they are longer than they should be for audio..........

there almost like 2 different worlds... text battling and audio battling....
