basically when rappers get fame, they dont go against the establishment...so, maybe if a gay rapper became famous he would stop going against the establishment....and become straight???

Oh, so I assume you listen to journalists and politicians
Or is that most influential ploticians are waht, in their damn upper 40's or higher?
and they're WHITE!?
Fuck politicians, what older white person likes rap, period!?

All Im saying is, if you expect white collar people to think good of hip hop why not just make an example? Why do we have to portray negativity and the mundane? If you want hip hop to become a cultural movement you have to start with a positive outlook and an analysis of the real problems of society and not just whine mindlessly in rhymed verses. The only way you can expect hip hop to grow is to provide all kinds of people, with no discrimination in heart, the opportunity to experience the wonderful thing that is hip hop.

To stop going against the establishment is just conforming to the establishment, because if you, the african american preacher of political distress towards minorities discriminates against a specific type of people, you're just setting yourselves up for more of the same.

^^^Exactly...sorta like blacks being racist against other blacks

shit is redundant and ridiculous

wow male...ur rockin right now

lol

Maleficent 11-12-06 09:13 PM

It was like that with white folks getting into hip hop, I remember a couple years ago there was a slight angst against white rappers, dont you? But when you have creative MC's and exemplars like Eminem leading the way it changes peoples perspective on it, so now its rare that we witness that kinda thing with white MC's.

Adam 11-12-06 09:16 PM

Just do it Elton John style..

Made a shit load of dope albums, then said he was gay after. I mean he lost a lot of fans, but he made it in the industry.

Tha .Q 11-12-06 09:18 PM

Gotcha...I hope one day there will be a gay rapper who doesn't fit the "stereotypes" of being gay. It'll be nice to see just to show that being gay isn't a handicap. They/we are regular people.

well that's pretty ironic seeing that the first hip hop song ever had absolutely nothing to do with raging against the government.

not to mention hip hop is an expressionary form, so how could it be "all about "anything? thats like saying painting is "all about rainbows and smiley faces".

Maleficent 11-12-06 10:01 PM

If this is the case then neither should hip hop dictate a person's ability or style because of their orientation.

Tha .Q 11-13-06 06:15 AM

^^Exactly...If it's about "expression" why stigmatize a certain segment?

pssf...Thank God for Maleficent in this thread. It's proof positive everyone isn't an ignorant moron like Zone Out, or a crackhead like Fakepexx.

you're acting like 100% of rap thats out is about negative things?
Politicians dont hate rap because its so called negative. Politicians hate rap because they're old and white. Politicians also hate video games. Different politicians like and hate different things. You cant group something as vast as that all into liking or disliking one specific thing. Thats exactly why there is a democratic and republic party now

Alot of music and art is about expression, rap including one of them. But just because its about expression it doesnt mean people HAVE to like it.
How am I ignorant? Because I dont try to make everything in the world gay? pfft, get the fuck outta here lil nigga.
The main point is if a rapper was gay, he wouldnt rap about gettin niggas and fuckin them in the ass ANYWAY! So what the fuck is the big deal?
STFU
