but i would not rank it ahead of the simpsons

the jokes are just to dry and sometimes hard to follow

Simpson's WAS better .. its old as fuck now, started running out of originality. They censor a lot of stuff now and most of the jokes arent funny. I used to like it, but now Family Guy is better, easily.
