As popular as will Smith is, he'd never pull enough votes on an independent ticket. He'd be forced to run as an independent, which would equate to his defeat, as politics are played today. Now about your shock over the latino vote and Mr. Bustamante. I can not see anything shocking about it, I am latino and I would never vote for Bustamante. For one he still carries that air of arrogance and condesending tone as he address' his people. The time is long over in which you could appeal to the latino populist simply because you are a latino yourself. People have recieved education, directly and indirectly. What I mean by this is, our parents political prowess has been improved by that of their children. They worked hard voted with their heart, and were easily swayed to one side. Yet today thier children many college educated and active in civics, are providing an insight into politics in which our parents never had. When you mesh all this together over time you get an informed and aware latino voting base. Many will still out of loyaty to the race, vote for the latino no matter his political agendas. Yet so many more will actually look to vote for their actual best interest, espeacily in local and state elections. We watched this unfold over the years but never so obvious as in this last recal election. I am not shocked over this, I am actually glad the latino voters made a statement here. This entire recall has so many damaging issues for the democratic party and the Presidential election. Ghod I know you understand the blow the democratic party has taken. A republican in control of the worlds fifth largest economy could spell doom for future democratic hopefulls, that is if he actually helps turn things around. If so, it's bye bye to many seats and positions held by the party. I think the peole of California have spoken up and loud for every American who belives those in office should be held accountable for their actions and or lack thereof. It's an exciting time for politics in California and across the country. I just wonder what the counter tactic is going to be for the white house in 2004. Weasley, or dean, or the ace up the democrates sleve Hilary. What about Hilary with weasley as the vice, hummm I wonder what cooking? I think we will all see some unheard of political moves in the next two presidential elections. Does Hilary ruin her bid for the white house by running against a popular Bush, or wait until his popularity is damaged further before she openly announces her bid. As I am sure you know, neither one of the democratic front runners pan out well in the polls today, that could change but it would take more than just Bush bashing. Or, does Hilary hold off (that is if Bush remains popular) and make her bid in 2008? Then the republicans can push Condi against hilary, which is not a far fetched thought in any sense. Wow can you see it, 2008 the year of the woman, Condi running against Hilary, what a frenzy that will be. Either way I just want your thoguhts on this, since I know you to be active in the political arena. From one political junkie to the other.. Peace |
OH BTW, yeah I'm glad a change was made in California. Although Arnold was not my favorite, I did vote for him. I could have voted for Mcclintock out of principle but at no cost did I want to vote for Bustamante. As close as the gallup polls have been in the last few weeks, it looked like a vote for anyone other than arnold would have been a vote for Bustamante. Another reason is that my over all favorite canadate Bill simon dropped out the race and then endorsed Arnold. So if arnold is going to employee people like Bill simon and David Dreir to help him manage this great state then I am all for him. He had a great victory speech, I was shocked at that.
This is what I heard, "For the people to win, it means politics as usual, have to lose!" I found that to be so true, I was so glad to hear that said by Arnold. I am happy about my vote and hopeful this State can BOUNCE back from the mismangement neglect of it's people. Go Terminator, oh yeah I popped in my copy of 'Total Recall' last night and celebrated with some of our finer northern cali grown produce.... Oh yeah~~~` |
bullshit, he should be impeached

^^^ok.... Honestly, you know that Arnold won simply on his name and popularity. And the democratic party are morons. They knew he was had a great majority of the votes....so they decided to do something to stop that...thus bring charges that he sexually abused women or whatever..... Problem was, that only made him even more popular....oops! But he definately won on his name.....I mean who the fuck knows who cruz bustamanti is if they don't live in California, whereas anybody who has ever been to the movies knows who Arnold Schwartzeneggar is. |
thats wut debates are for. and no he didnt win on his name. he won because he was the best option at the time.
^^true dat
um right....you think if he wasn't a celebrity he'd still win?
i think if he wasnt a celebrity he wouldve gotten more votes because he wouldve been respected more as a political candidate.
wow at first i was like what the fuck does that mean :whacky: **smacks himself for blonde moment** well good for arnold
he knows nothin of politics and its just republicans stealing more elections. he cant even answer peoples questions cause h dont know what to do. florida aint lonely anymore.
the terminator bein in office is pretty scary if you ask me....hes cool in shit cuz he popular...but is he cool wit politiks....how can a foreign man run a state under an american manufactured government?
!!!Cali's gonna burn!!!

Many celeberties turn politicians, Arnold is not the first. I do not understand why people consider someone who is not a life long politicain, a bad choice. Look at what the life long politicains, in control of this state, have done to date. Sometimes a breath of fresh air is needed to turn things around. Our founding fathers were farmers and businessmen, yet stand out in world history as some of the most compatent politicans of all time. It's a huge misconception that a politican is someone who has been working in, or studing civics all their life. That is so wrong, a true politicans is a member of a community who has the moral, business and social ethics, right for the job at hand. It's always been this way, so why are so many people condeming Arnold for not having served in public office before? Ignorance? Lack of reasoning? Just to make a statement? Corruption is breed into the life long politicain, simply because of the disconnect with the people durring a life long career in politics. I rather have someone fresh from the communtiy who is in touch with the people, who can relate to the people. Davis has proved his disconnect with Californians, and has admitted that in his conceedance speech. Eveyone of you that down Arnold, or claim he is oblivious to the issues, or simply stupid, need to rethink your positions. The man is a very sucessful business man. He has been succesful at everything he has done in life. He has exhibited excellece in evey aspect of his life. Why wouldn't we want someone like that in public office. He is a go getter, he follows through, and everyone can see his ambition and will power and Charecter. It takes more than some fancy suit, a cheap degree and great PR people to make a difference in this day and age. It's take someone with backbone and initiative. I think everyone can agree Arnold does posses everyone of these qualities. So enough said! Point made! Who's to say Opey, Ghod, or Myself are not politicans, becasue a politican is someone concerned for the people and someone willing to stand up and fight for what is in favor of the people. Not some people, but the majority of the people. Anyone of you could pursue an active career in politics, regardless of your experience, that's the American way. Did you people forget that? Or did you all miss that civics class? Arnold does not represent the Hollywood elite (far left) or else he would have been endorsed on the democratic party. This is one of the key reasons he did not get as many votes as he would have, if he were. A good politican knows talk is cheap and Arnold reflected that in his run, he did not allow the liberal media to misrepresent anything he said by not saying much. He outlined a plan for his first 180 days in office, I seen it, and I thought is was solid. Yet many have not looked into it, they rather listen to the media for thier informaton. It's all there outlined on his web site. He has a very respectable transition team, one that employees heavy wieghts in the political world. He is endorsed by Bill simmon, a true fiscal conservative and has David Drieir leading this transition. Come on how can you tell me his administration is incompatent without sounding ignorant yourself?
Anyone? About the comment by KGM, Cali is going to burn? Our feet are already on the fires, should we just wait around watch our state roast. Hell no, I rather have a JFK era Democrate in office than the current liberally infested democrates remain. I know Arnold is seen a another Kennedy due to his maritial status but even so, his fiscal conservativeness aligned with the democrate idoeologies of old (kennedy clan) is a step up from the current norm. So burn, I think not, will he turn the state around, I think he and his team could. |
