hip hop is life, culture

you live hip hop you are hip hop.

you listen to it, you draw it, write it, create it.

hip hop is whatever anyone wants it to be
basic definition is rap, graffiti, dj'ing, break dancing
but now it can be so much more. the way you dress the way you talk alsorts of shit

D.Stroyer 06-16-06 11:29 PM

hip hop is different from rap, hip hop is speaking the truth, culture, what a black man goes through, real talk, delivering a message ppl like Mos Def, Common, Talib Kweli, Little Brother, Slum Village, Nas, Elzhi ppl that talk about things that mean something, rap would be Lil Wayne, T.I., Papoose, etc, but i love listening to both

J Bee 06-19-06 01:38 PM

a dying over comercialized culture

Hip Hop Is Music Thas Hip Lol

GREVISS 07-14-06 06:18 AM

hip hop is the heart beat, the air we breathe,
an appreciation only the truly enlightened can
truly comprehend...

Terumoto 07-14-06 06:44 AM

Are you truly enlightened?

What is the most valuable thing in life?

GREVISS 07-14-06 09:12 AM

^^ death...

thats the short answer but its meaning is endless

Terumoto 07-14-06 09:53 AM

Nah... It's dried dung. Either that or the head of a dead cat. Understand?

GREVISS 07-14-06 10:20 AM

nurture life, death is inevitable

Terumoto 07-14-06 10:21 AM

What has come from greatness shall return to greatness... Whats so valuable about death?

GREVISS 07-14-06 11:18 AM

death is equality.......the rich, the poor , the young, the old, the good the bad,
death is beyond rascism, it has no biast, and is the only certainty in life,
when you accept and welcome death as a part of life, the divisions of time
are altered.........a second becomes a minute, a minute an hour, an hour a day.......
the secret to a longer life is death....

Terumoto 07-14-06 11:25 AM

Time only matters if you want it to.

What creates equality before death? Suffering. Everybody suffers in just the same way. Every single person in the world longs for something.

The reason why things like dried dung and a dead cats head are so valuable in this world is because they have no value. The things that have no value: compassion, thought, life... They are the most valuable things in the world.

GREVISS 07-14-06 11:55 AM

exactly my point, how high a price you put on time defines your life...

Quote:

death is certain....^^your statement is an assumption...you assume no one is
content...simply put .............is the glass empty or half full

Quote:

perhaps you may not have understood why i stated

Quote:
nurture life, death is inevitable

i saw the dried dung as an organic material essential to a sustainable
environment, whilst your dead cat became a metaphor, as they have
nine lives....again.............is the glass empty or half full

and while your sentaments on the value of comppassion etc are noble

ill quote you again

Quote:
What has come from greatness shall return to greatness...

and leave you to think of a quote of my own.....

.................................................. ...."Greatness redeems incessant madness"

Phene 07-21-06 04:56 PM

Hip-Hop is everything

Terumoto 07-21-06 07:26 PM

Did you just steal phene's name, or are you actually phene?

Nynth Degree 07-21-06 07:47 PM

Hip hop is what bunnies do when you scare 'em out of your garden.

liltonya2 10-14-06 09:25 PM

hip hop is the hottezt mewzic on earf

liltonya2 10-14-06 09:27 PM

translation if there happens to be any grandmas on the thread: hip hop is good

Truce 12-06-06 01:05 PM

Hip Hop's beauty lies in the fact it can be treated as a blank canvas, and you are just free to express yourself within the culture

Maleficent 12-06-06 02:46 PM

All these poetic definitions of hip hop are weak. Its a form of music, clothing, blah blah blah, not a religion or lifestyle.

Otto Octavius 12-06-06 04:09 PM

hip-hop is sumthing that is being brain-washed by the mass-media.....

WhoAmI 12-06-06 04:34 PM

^^the question was not what is happening to hiphop

Gen-o-Tonik 01-25-07 05:39 PM

hip hop is the genra that rap was originated.. a place where the black community can feel welcome to finally call something of our own.. wat we make it is how it will become.. now a dayz its too much about fad and not about real rhyming.. if there were more busta rhymers and Cannibuses who knows wat kinda futuristic prodigical ass rapper cassidy would have turned out to b.. or juelz, or lil wayne.. they are rappers.. they are not emcees.. they COULD HAVE BEEN, that woulda been the shyt.. but they not.. just real good rappers. if hip hop today was full of emcees like back in the days hip hop wouldnt never b even almost even thought bein called "dead".. specially by one of the best emcees in the biz.. more than likely it would have been call "the shit" u kno?

In-Vision 02-06-07 10:31 PM

so basically, you could have said..."ask krs-1 or afrika bambata"

i don't think it's fair to call hip hop a culture...it's like the pit bull...a pure bred pitbull doesn't make sense.because pitbull isn't an actual breed by definition..it's a combination of breeds, people choose to mix..for whatever reasons they have...there is no definitive way to describe hip hop on a factual level..personal level..of course....but the fact is...the way you talk, walk, dress, or live..doesn't make you hip hop..or not hip hop...i think whats more important than anything in any "culture" if thats what you want to call it, is your belief in it's ability, and how you live to better it.....it's like religion..going to church and reading the bible and doing good deeds for personal gain isn't going to get you to heaven...assuming you believe in that...it's what you actually believe..and how you follow up with those beliefs

conspiracyuk 02-10-07 11:31 AM

xCadaverx 08-02-07 06:51 AM

You can't fit Hip-Hop into one paragraph.. in fact, you can't define hip-hop, because there are too many people who have a different view and love for hip-hop to even be able to define it.

You can't define hip-hop.
^nuff said.
