I think it's a way to focus more on the sport than the flash...
sorta like college ball iono I just say this news flash on TV |
I am... so confused..... all i kno is that it isnt racist to ask ppl to wear a drescode... We got a dress code down here at our skool. But yeah the chain thing does go a bit 2 far.

It's more culturally targeted, the culture which the whole league is almost based off of, and that's what's upsetting alot of people. |

And the terms wigga and n***a. My point is that the only reason people care bout this is that it is the popular way people dress and act now. Shut up and go play the sport you are paid for. Stop trying to make money and get laid off the stuff you have, actually do your job and be a real role model for kids. People say only rap makes people dress like this? No, it's the sports players, it's the shows, and the media saying it's cool. If you said it wasn't cool on MTV for 5 years, dressing in baggy clothes and "bling" would be done. People dressed in baggy clothes cuz it fit them, that's why. Then people started to act like it's cool to be poor, thus leading to the media agreeing, now we can't turn around until at least 3 generations say it is not cool. If you dress in baggy clothes, have your pants down past your waist, brag on your tracks, and wear flashy shoes and jewelry then in my eyes, you cause the problems you complain of. |

which I would accept, IF THE LEAGUE DIDNT MARKET THE IMAGE THEMSELVES!!!! The players should at least be able to live it. |
Quote:
I said the league, not basketball. History doesn't matter here, the fact is the league NOW is highly dependent on hip-hop culture in itself. |

Because, if it weren't for "their players" wearing that clothing in public and on the way to and from appearences, they wouldn't have nearly the support, money, or interest that they do in the league. I'm really trying to say this without sounding rude b/c I'm not trying to be rude at all, but if you don't live in the U.S. then you really can't argue this. At least not the marketing part, b/c you don't know how it is. |
Quote:
Argh, but what I'm saying is that if the league wants a "professional" image, then why don't they show ads of people drinking tea and watching a smashing game of hoops? |
Quote:
huh ? lol, where's Mim, I need a translation. Punctuation really helps fam, at least some. To make it readable. |

Haha, nah my bad I didn't mean to take away from the topic, but I really don't think anything new was said  |

Yo, go sit yo cracker jack ass down somewhere. Have you noticed all white people say that shit. If it was flipped around and white people get pre-judged and steotyped, then they would be saying the same thing. I think the dress code is stupid, and the NBA should boycott, well at least alot of the players, but that's gonna take a lot of time and coroporation. Really, I think David Stern just lowered his self. A.I. is really pissed about it. |
Quote:
who are you talking too? LOL and yeah it aint racist. but that shits stupid as fuck. You should be able to dress the way you want. you earned it. Why the fuck are they making everyone follow one dress code. why can't everyone follow hiphop dress code. what because people who where hip hop clothing are suppost to be gangsters? thats not how it is at all people are just fucking stupid and because the majority of criminals dress hiphop. doesn't mean everyone does. same thing as sayin all asians know kung-fu...fuck is that shit! i say you should dress the way you want. end of story this made me mad to hear this :@:@:@: |
Yeah, I'm done arguing in this thread.
I've said everything I've need to, and going on would just be me repeating the same shit over and over again. |
how the fuck is that racist?
duz that means that if they tell the white ballers to dress formally they just want to make there appearance look more proffesional, but if they ask the black ballers to dress formally its racist? n i dunno if ne1 else has noticed, but a lot of rappers DO wear proffesional clothing jay-z rocks a suit in a lot of the pics ull see of him, a lot a southern artists are doint it 2... so its not really "anti-hiphop culture" either its not so hard to c where the nba's comin from here, they want to make the league look more proffesional n give it a better public appearance |
u shoulda just made a poll
|
KSR. why should we follow that dresscode?
|
..Because you dress professionally for any serious job.
|
I know this will obviously have been said.
But It Sucks That people ave to bring Race into this, It's Just a Company Introducing a dress code to their employees, and the eployees hapen to be famous sportstar celebrities. Fuck that, This Has Nothing To Do With Race. |
^^lol, u aint gotta follow shit (to kon)
dont feel so bad for the nba players either they get payed millions of dollars a year to play a GAME they dont do nethin for society, n they have fun doin it n they make more than tons of people who r makin a difference in the world now they have to wear clothes to that job that MOST people have to wear to there boring, low-paying jobs please tell me how this is unfair, racist, or nethin else bad 4 them |

That Jus Blatant Fucking Ignorant Racism From YOU. What The Fuck. People Like You Are Keeping Racism Alive By Way Overblowing Small Shit Like This. And then Claiming Every Fuckin White Person Is a Racist. Stop The Bullshit, Open Your Fucking Ears And Listen to What Your Trying To Say. fucking Moron. |

he aint bein racist, he's givin his honest thoughts bout this but U r prejudgin n stereotypin HIM cuz he's white is every other job wit a dresscode racist 2? |
Actually...I understand what I Noc means...But, he's mistaken in this case...
Example...Let's say a Black woman works in "corporate" America and has a white boss. This black woman dresses in Kinte Cloth and rocks dred-locks. So, the boss calls her in and says "I think a more "traditional" business look is appropriate. She could argue he's being CULTURALLY insensitive, if not racist. So...this is a very delicate issue I-NOC...I don't think this is racist. I get the impression they're trying to send a message to the younger kids who dream of being in the NBA that it's about talent and not bling. 1 |
Quote:
every other job does not market the hip-hop culture !!!!!!!! Im so sick of saying that, you cant compare the NBA to other businesses in this aspect, its totally different |
Quote:
oh, if you scroll through the thread you'll see im not arguing that this is racist That was just the title because that was the title of the article or poll or w/e on ESPN, so I was presentint it to ya'll in that manner |
Quote:
wutchu say to my other post, the 1 bout there job not bein so bad in the 1st place |
Quote:
not that it matters, but I'm curious u w or b? and where are u from? 1 |
Quote:
Umm, well if you're saying that they "have it easy" they worked their whole fucking lives for this, completely dedicated, I dont think professional athletes have it easy at all.... you know how hard it is to get to the NBA? They deserve some respect. And to not be treated like some schoolgirl in a uniform.... their uniform is the jersey they put on at game time, thats it. |
Quote:
lol, this Blay yo Im white, from the South |
^^u think they DESERVE the money there gettin paid?
|
Quote:
yes, I actually wrote an editorial about this for our newspaper If they dont deserve the money, then WHO does? What people dont understand is that nobody sits back and decides how much to pay these guys, people buy tickets to the games, buy merchandise, and that decides a player's paycheck. They bring in the fans, and it definitely shouldnt be sitting in the GM's pockets..... |
Quote:
o sup dawg i was bout to asl A/S/L...so I cud cyber :hump: eeeeeeeeer SIKE... but yea...let's say this was racist...Something else that bothers me is how people deny the incidence of ANYTHING racial? I'm like, "exactly when is something ever racially motivated then?" That's the problem with racism in my opinion. It's subtle in so many ways. Back in the 1950s and 60s, they would literally spit in a black man's face. Today, they do it by denying him credit or erecting other economic barriers they know minorities will have a tough time overcoming. It's a game they force us all to play with out giving us the rules or instructions. It's up to the individual to figure it all out. 1 |
