LM 10-20-03 03:28 PM

Actually p.styles had a point. All the rappers over in the US nowadays talk bout the same stuff. Growin up in the hood and stuff. They need somethin else to write bout. And whats to say that a British rapper wont find that somethin else. It's worth thinkin bout coz rap is gettin repetative now.

^^^WTF are you talking about???? How is U.K rap fresher than U.S rap when yall are imatating us here in the U.S??? Rap over here is played out now???? And we have to wait for new blood all the time????? Your a fuckin retard!!!!! Since you dont live here in the U.S you dont know about our mix tape circut. Everyday DJ's come out with new mix tapes that contain new artists/up and comers, with all new songs and free's. Theirs atleast 10 new cds bein pumped out into the streets every week and every week theirs new artists with new songs featured on the cds. Idk wtf your talking about.....theirs mad underground cats here blowin up on the underground mix tape scene that yall dont even know about yet and wont until they blow up big. For every 10 up and commers that yall in the u.k have, theirs triple that over here in the U.S who have better skillz and that are on a whole nother level. Yall dont even no.......how do yall expect to blow up big over here when everyday theirs a new artists blowin up big over here and world wide. Yall are a huge selling market for us. Yall buy out music, clothes, shoes, hats, coats....everything. How can yall be original and all that shit when yall act like us???? come'on now.........And its not that if anyone ever did blow up over here from the U.K that we'd think that your a wannabee Eminem. Its just that he's what yall are exposed to. Yall really only know about our mainstream artists b/c thats all yall tv stations and radio is exposing you too. So since he's all alot of what you know about(meaning his rap style) of coarse yall are gonna imatate him. Yall gotta come out wit your own styles and siclude yourselves from our hip-hop culture but yet have to do or say shit that would attrack listeners over here.......All I gotta say is yall got alot of hard work ahead of you hahaha......I dont think its ever really gonna happen.

DAARK 10-20-03 03:42 PM

Damn........this thread is mad funny hahahaha......I heard a brit rapper tryin' ta emulate 50 cent......I think he called him self 60 cent lol (no joke) I saw it yesterday.....maybe he's clownin maybe he's not.....but tha nigga said his name was 60 cent....his first single iz "U say U a Pranksta"..........>> in a strong british accent of course..hahahahaha......my bad i meant MUHAHAHAHAHAAAA

LM 10-20-03 03:45 PM

I have to admit that crackin America will be hardest thing any British rapper could do but there's a possibility that one day it will be done. If the public likes the way you sound and perform then your onto a winner. We go through the same shit as what the Americans do so there's no reason why we cant do it if we manage to get deals over here. But right now the government complains bout rap over here so they wont care if kids with talent dont make it. Fuck i hate our government. I've made myself angry now AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

*Y_nOt* 10-20-03 04:20 PM

HAHAHA damn.....yea awile back(early 90's late 80's) the U.S gov was protesting Hip-hop and rap to. They went after N.W.A, and ICE T...to name a few but thats all bull shit. If hip hop got a huge following over their like yall say it does than yall can beat that shit but w/e, 1

varentao 10-20-03 07:56 PM

It'll probably never 'blow up' over in America. The stigma attached to hip-hop over in the US (and even over in the UK) will probably put pay to that. You know, 'hard' and American. Along with the stereotypes of UK. And of course, the accent.

But it doesn't matter all that much. UK artists have colloborated US artists for quite a while now. And will carry on doing so. You may not like UK hip-hop, but it's there to appreciate. Like you might not like rock, but you appreciate the art in the lyrics, the 'beats' and the vocals...

RebelSoul 10-20-03 08:54 PM

i have heard some british shit some guy told me to listen to it porettym much sucked....the accent just doesnt really work or somethin i dunno what it is but i didint like it

LM 10-21-03 03:53 AM

I dunno what will happen over in America but a British rapper will hit the big time. Whether he/she cracks America will be a mystery til it happens

Bigg E Z 10-21-03 07:40 AM

my opinion....UK hip hop is way better....!
wether well hit USA or not....to us...well be better...there is a HUGE scene in UK now....and we dont need USA hip hop no more....

But.....by doing Collabs (example-Rza feat Blade, Wu tang feat Blak Twang, DMX feat 57th Dynasty) well prolly get some interests.....

Give us Time..!!

LM 10-21-03 07:44 AM

I dunno bout UK hip hop bein better but it's true that we dont need US hip hop no more.

Bigg E Z 10-21-03 07:47 AM

hell yeah its better.....UK mcs use internals like no US mc iv heard..!!!

WERE WAAAAAAAYYY BETTER

/:Ayura:\ 10-21-03 07:54 AM

Wah Blow dem puss y'all

Our language is way better then american's "you know wa' im sayin" slang. My mate's american cusin, who came down, wasnt too excited by uk, however that changed in one week, and he didnt want to leave HA. Brook.

Anywayz, we guys shouldnt compete against the U.S. cus lets face it, theres billions of them, and only millions of us. The chances are quite unfair. And not alot of uk rappers are great, look at phukin some geeks that come on channel U. I feel like I wanna slap em up. And the only reason we find it better, is cus we can relate to is, in the same way arabian hip hop can relate to there shit, hell there probaley saying there shit is the shit.

I predict 2005 will be when everyone starts to feel uk hip hop

/:Ayura:\ 10-21-03 07:56 AM

oh, and you guys seen that new jehst video with border crossing in? alias. That video is heavi sta. Listen, That whole thing is just raw to the double r raw. How old is he anyways, he looks 16 on the video surprisely, still a hot video, if you guys aint seen it, i suggest you lock youself in your room and watch channel U till it comes on. Then download it.

LM 10-21-03 09:13 AM

Ayura made a good point about relatin to the music. That's another reason why we can blow up in the States. We go through the same shit so they can relate to us aswell. It's a matter of how well the songs have produced and stuff i reckon.

Bigg E Z 10-21-03 04:58 PM

"""""look at phukin some geeks that come on channel U."""""

^^^ LMFAO..............I am so feelin that 1 bro..!!!

1 name for ya- Yo Click "Warnin"......Shit makes me sick..!!!

and Jehst, yeah, im feelin "Run Hard" at the mo....Im cravin for that beat tho, that shits mad..!!

anyway.....2005 seems to be a fair year, I wus thinkin what happend with 2000,2001,2002 and 2003...lol

anyway....like i said earlyer....GIVE US TIME......

*Y_nOt* 10-21-03 08:19 PM

2005..........YEA WE'LL SEE HAHAHAHA

LM 10-22-03 03:54 PM

2005 seems a bit close but it aint too far away that we blow up

HK The Great 10-23-03 04:25 PM

i keep hearin how uk rap has a huge followin... thats a front cuz if there was, uk rappers would sell, and get the attention of a major label and shit... dont u think? and im sure ur goverment sucks, but that cant stop someone from puttin out or buyin any album they want... they may not have the exposure but thats cuz they aint workin hard enuff... example: luda sold 570,000 units of his first underground album Incognegro out the trunk of his car, em did about the same, doin the same, and u think that they stayed in they city or state?? naw they traveled. followin rap tours and shit slang cds and tapes from they trunks and one day THEY heard them, signed them, and they hot.... so ama tell u how to blow up in the US, where the real money is at... ur gonna need to go all around ur country, lookin for anybody and everybody that is tight, and hot, and nice and all that... buy two or three tracks from everybody, make a mixtape series, how ever many cds it takes, then fly ur ass to to NY, look for hot 97 give them one cd ask them to play it, make some copies of every cd and had a few out, find away to circulate them to radio stations, and a tip, go to college radio stations cuz they can play whatever the fuck they feel, and will try anything new, get it played and sooner or later we got the next eminem wannabe, signed to a deal and not even gettin a freestyle out cuz some crazy ass dude came out the same time and everybody after him... so u wanna know how u sell here...

U DONT

layte

Bigg E Z 10-23-03 04:53 PM

Erm, Blud..!! Ninja Tune, Fas Fwd Ent's, Bigg Dadda, Watch no Face, Wolftown Records..!!!

All major Hip Hop labels in UK.....All UK's top MC's are at them Labels..!!

And.....UK has got A huge following..!!

/:Ayura:\ 10-23-03 06:57 PM

Hardkor3 it aint as easy as it sounds. plus maybe hh in uk dont wanna blow up in U.S. cus you guys just exploit everything for money, you did it to iraq, and all other poverty countries and anything that the public likes etc

*Y_nOt* 10-23-03 07:01 PM

yo i agree wit what you said HARDKOR......excpet hot 97 doesnt just play any kids cd off the street. In NY hip hop is cretiqued beyond belief....you gotta impress the dj's their and have to know them to even get in the building. Its hard to blow up in the rap game anywhere you go in the u.s...you just gotta up your skillz and be better than everybody else, 1

varentao 10-23-03 07:29 PM

UK artists need to 'break' the UK market before they can conquer the US one.

As said many times before. People in the UK have been drilled deep with US hip-hop. And the accent to boot. So it'll take time to adapt and all that.

This is from talking to a wide range of people who listen to hip-hop and music in general.

Look at the US underground. Now the UK one is developing. And has some great artists. But from a neutral point of view (let's say, er, i dunno, Japan) US is stronger. The main reason so many UK people who have 'found' UK hip-hop and got into it, are saying UK hip-hop is better and all that. Is because it's closer to home. They relate more easily. The overall slang and terminology used has a lot of UK/Jamaica in it.

Don't get ahead of yourselves. It's brooding with talent. But it needs time and productive progression (I mean hey, for example, i think Roots Manuva is one of the best in the world at the type of hip-hop he 'does'....but...och! forget it!..)...

LM 10-24-03 04:43 AM

I didnt even know this was still goin. 106 replys after I post this. Fuckin hell

/:Ayura:\ 10-24-03 10:15 AM

damn lol, see what you created? a monster i tell, a monster? haha

naw, true say dem boy varentao touch on dem topic bout dem UK-g rap-az nuff luv ras klass

see, people in the uk will feel that, but US will think what the 'bumba-hole' he is talking about. this guy is chatting 'butterz' see we can relate to the terminolgy, like 'breh' and 'sta.'

LM 10-24-03 10:31 AM

I think that we cant really say what people will feel until it happens, we just have to wait to find out

E C C O 10-24-03 10:55 AM

yo i totally agree at the monent english rap is fairly weak in numbers but it would be great is some 1 bursts on 2 da scene....

LM 10-24-03 11:22 AM

Somebody will burst onto the scene soon. I'm sure of it. People from the US may not of heard of them but The Streets are bein tipped to be huge. Personally I dont like them but we're movin in the right direction

/:Ayura:\ 10-24-03 02:49 PM

the one group i dont want to explode, is fucking big bruvvas, they are soo gay, whackness in his truest form. haha that guy tries to act like 50 cent, the fake dick

LM 10-24-03 02:56 PM

He looks a bit like him tho. I think.....it might just be me. I dunno how they've got big over here but hopefully they wont go worldwide otherwise we'll never here the last of them. And we'll all get brain tumours from listenin to them.

Peace!!!

Lokinator 10-24-03 03:31 PM
