Firepower aside, the logistics of what it would take to "take over the world" (the "world" meaning "the world economies" since nothing else matters to government but money) are way out of any one country's reach by physical force.

They'd have to empower tyrants, villainize them, then dethrone the ruling powers in the places that control the big money.

Even though they came in when the forces were all battered, there was the lend-lease plan which donated a sum of in the two-digit billions to the war effort for the UK, which helped them out a good deal. If US had been in it from the start, though, it would've been majorly worn out if it took the place of a country like France, if France remained neutral. Meh, it's hypothetical anyway.

Most countries would have their hands full with Israel, including the United States, if they for some reason decided to break pacts between America and Israel. Unless America wanted to bring nukes into it, which would spell out the end of the States because everyone will be pissed laser pointer in the sky or not, it'll be a difficult struggle for America if they attempted to occupy Israel. Size or not, it's tactics and landscape that matters when it comes to dogfights and whatnot.

and i believe every male citizen has to join the army once they turn 18 in Israel...... its crazy.... amazingly well trained........ quality-wise Israel would kick our ass... but we are bigger and so are our numbers..... so quality + quantity we could take them out.... but still not easily

America and the other big powers in the world are constantly working on designing better weapons, and have probably already developed new weapons. Chances are they probably could somehow pull off a surprise attack.

in this day and age theres no such thing as a suprise attack..... ie: sept 11... cross refrence the 20 dolla bill....
