werd, and if i knew 9th in real life, he'd hate me
I'd be like " spit something" all the time
he'll be lucky if i dont get him on AIM
but yeah
drunken cyphers are hilarious too
or finishing each others set up
like styles and jada do, theres a bunch of shit you can do

Nynth Degree 02-16-06 01:02 PM

That's the only thing I dislike, is how some people see emcees as always being obligated to spit. Then they don't wanna take no for an answer and keep persisting, which really puts you out of the mood to rhyme.

Freestyling is an Art, and so is the ability to write. I'm grateful to have a strong ability in writing. I used to freestyle, but when i realized it wasnt helping become a better writer, i found myself going away from it. Its like the senses of the human body. If you lose your eyesight, your other senses become stronger. And vice versa.

LOL i know exactly what you mean.
btw i was just playing i wouldnt do that to you
but in my old block i was known for rhyming cuz i was one of the few hispanics there that rhymed better then most the black kids
so they would be like " oh theres that german kid, yo spit something" (in the bronx they call hispanics germans dont ask me why)
if im in the mood ill spit but dont ask me to spit at work or while im with the hoes

you can write and freestyle, theres no limit to your rap skills
for example
we text on RV, off of RV we write songs, and some of us hit the studios
and others just freestyle
some do all of those things at the appropriate time
it compliments your other skills
If i get writers block ill freestyle a bit to break thru it

G Deuce 02-16-06 01:55 PM

Yea, thats true. Especially on writers block. Its good to help you mind relax by just releasing rhymes off top. But have you found one stronger than the other at times? Like, you freestyle better than you write. Or you write better than you freestyle.

N.Tavarez 02-16-06 02:31 PM

well i write much better
but i really release some steam off a good freestyle to a hot instrumental
but th e thing about freestyling is
you can kill shit all day, then later when u go to write it you be like " what did i say?"
u hardly ever remember freestyles so i like to try and record it
with anything i can: a tape recorder, old tape deck whatever
but u will always write better
its just the freestyle is you at your rawest form

Black City 02-16-06 02:34 PM

im dope at freestylin by myself
but around folks i gotta start off with some bars i wrote then it rolls off tha dome...werd

Daubs 02-16-06 02:44 PM

Im shit to average,

better when im tipsy...i unno, i try.

.Judicial. 02-16-06 03:13 PM

hmmm freestyling...out of a scale to 10 i'd be like 5, 6 or 7 if im lucky....like i always start off real good then i start losing words and i find myself repeating shit and im like damn....i neva really freestyled like against someone tho..maybe i should try that see what happens.

money 02-16-06 03:50 PM

i can freestyle but im not perfect. my shit is not always on top of its game. but i can freestyle. i do it all the time.

what u gonna do??? drop some pre-writtens, have ur opponent flippin ur best lines against u and pullin ur card on the fact u aint gettin personal, and every big hit he takes on u, ur not flippin against him, ur gonna demolished.

one of the biggest ways to help build ur name in the scene is battling and freestyling.

I am the only person I know that raps....
I dont hang out with rappers.....so that wouldnt happen....

KempoMRK 02-16-06 06:17 PM

I see it this way.

You hear a dope track, you go oooh thats a nice track.

Your in a cypher, you give them a list of words, they fucking rip it, u go ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

Freestyling is one of, if not THE, most impressive skill in emceeing.

BigTony.Self 02-16-06 06:30 PM

^^^^^^^true .......it is definately impressive to watch kids freestyle
