And yeah, the highest pixel quality is 1080i. I don't know if many plasmas go that high though coz my LCD's go 1080i.. but my friend got a 50" LG Plasma that only goes up to 1080p.

Adam 02-08-09 10:28 AM

Plasmas are garbage compared to LCD.

King Solo 02-08-09 10:46 AM

^ That's my opinion also. LCD's are more crisp and don't have that gay ass image burning shit. Like on my friends plasma, when subtitles come up you can still see them after they've gone coz the image been burned on to the screen for a second. It passes, but its fucking annoying as hell. LCD's got a longer lifespan to.

Easiest way to put it, Sony, which is probably the most well known brand when it comes to televisions, doesn't even make Plasma anymore, they consider it a dead technology.

Good for you, at least you have some good taste then.

Samsung is the way to go than? I was thinking about Sony, but looks like everyones rockin the Samsung. The only thing I know is that Plasma is better for the home entertainment. And if you're going to be play the ps3 or 360 I know that you want that 1080i for those purposes. So I better hop on that, go check it out.

King Solo 02-08-09 03:14 PM

There are good and bad points for both parties.

I rock the LCD simply because they last longer and rock the 1080i shit, which is essential if you want maximum quality on gaming.

WhoAmI 02-08-09 03:16 PM

1080p > 1080i

the only difference is the way the signal is displayed visually

but pay attention to any fast motion taking place in films or video games and you'll see

J.Roy 02-08-09 03:34 PM

yeah that plasma shit has that shit that'll burn onto the screen, which is why i'm hesitant to get an other one. I used to have a 42" philips plasma, and I got rid of it when I went to college.

Adam 02-08-09 03:50 PM

Plasma is garbage.

Get a Sony flat panel LCD.

Remember, bigger doesn't mean better. Get it according to the size of your room or else your viewing pleasure won't be at it's maximum.

Samsung is just a cheaper version of Sony, they're actually made in the same factory. A Sony has a better engine inside of it though.

its funny that you keep sayin Plasma is garbage, go down to any local tv outlet and they'll even tell you that niether one is better than the other

it's completely based on what you intend to be watchin/doing the most with your t.v.

Video games = Plasma, becuase the transfer of pixels on the t.v. are much much much smoother

and as far as that 'burning in shit'...that is true, but very rarely happens on higher end plasma's, adn also it usally only happens with in the first 100 hours of usage

both LCD and Plasma's dont burn out at differnet rates either, both have shelf lifes of around 60,000 hours of life before they start to experience shortages

also, the brand really actually does matter when it comes to T.V.'s

Pioneer shits on EVERYONE...like a 720 Pioneer straight up SHITS on a 1080i Sony

again, if you dotn belivie me, go down to a t.v. outlet, like a best buy and they'll tell you the same thing

King Solo 02-08-09 10:49 PM

I'm pretty sure I said that both have their good and bad points. Based on preference, I go for the LCD because pretty much every TV outlet I went to told me LCD was better for playing computer games. So, one of us is being lied to.

I personally don't pay much attention to what name I'm buying. For example, my first LCD is the 42" that I got in my bedroom. People said, why did you get an LG when you could've gotten a Sony? The fact is, the Sony version cost like £500-£600 extra and all that means is I am paying that much for the name. LG does all the internals for Sony as it is, so the TV's were pretty much the same minus the name on the front.

Then I got the 50" Sony downstairs simply because at the time of upgrading to a bigger screen I was feeling the Sony more than any other for what it was going to give me with all that picture in picture shit and all them dope bonuses. Plus, it came with a £800 TV stand that has this raw built-in surround sound.

Adam 02-09-09 12:45 AM

I used to sell televisions and know the goods inside out. Going down to my local electronics outlet is going to accomplish nothing, I usually go there and stump the fucking salesmen.

LCD > Plasma

I mean Plasmas are good if you want to fucking check yourself out in them, but other than that, I'd only take it if it was free.

Pioneer? Hahaha dude.. who ever told you that was trying to make commission, Pioneer is a pile of shit, the only thing they're half decent in is car audio. It's the same with Sharp, honest to fuck, those TV's are garbage.

Sony and Samsung are the only two I'd ever put my money down on.

The only way I'd ever buy a plasma is if it was going into a dark basement with no windows and I was watching a lot of action flicks or hockey on it, and anybody in their right mind would be buying Panasonic if they're buying a plasma.

Also Solo, 1080p is better than 1080i bro.

King Solo 02-09-09 01:06 AM

^ oh word, I always get them mixed up.

whichever.. both my tv's rock the maximum in picture quality
