Damn I just read that Hitler had like 6 hospitals plus some clinics kill off 200,000 of his own people (just for having health problems) cause he wanted the Germans to be a perfect race. He's like on top of the list of history's mad men, thats what I think.

He exploited a situation created by the victorious nations of WW1. He stumbled through using his fiery rhetoric which aroused nationalism in many. Which brings one back to the situation at the time. It was a time of confusion and lost minds. The upper class of Germany played a massive part. Especially those who'd been in power. And still had substantial influence over the military and people in general. The upper class didn't like democracy. It threatened their place in society. A single strong leader sounded good to them. Hitler was a psychotic. With people around him who so wanted to believe. That they were able to bring him through situations he otherwise would've been stopped at. He wasn't that clever. It was his simplicity. His sincerity. That appealed to 'the people'. And yes, it was all sincere. If he'd been more clever than he was, he probably would've failed. He wasn't the greatest speaker of all time. His style of speaking just suited the time he was in. There's so much more. But it basically comes down to (emphasis on basically..).. If he hadn't been a psychotic. If he hadn't made so many elementary mistakes. If he hadn't let his ego and emotions get the better of him. The war could've been very very different.
