"racism is a 2 way street and we're ALL collectively walking up and down it in both directions"

You just judged me again. You ASSUMED i'm the "the white man did it" type nigga and I'm not. Don't judge me cause you obviously don't know two shits about my oppinion or personality. That's all it is.

I don't blaim shit on white people, if you really listen to what I'm always sayin, its the black people's fault. And reperations don't come out of your pockets, it comes from the government. If they can spend all this money on wars and shit I think they can help us out. You get what I'm sayin?

Just in case you obviously missed what I was saying.

I sware you don't know half as much about your brothers as you think you do.

L. Veracity 02-12-06 01:56 PM

check my last post, I EDITed it

and I didn't assume that YOU were, my statements were rather general and not directed specifically at you but to the people that DO think that way

P.S. generally "the government" and the "white man" are one in the same lmao..black people don't run this country, rich white men do..they just use black people to get votes and save face so we can say we got some kinda foot in the door or some shit...it's all an illusion

Logic The Goonie 02-12-06 02:07 PM

Fuck I hate having to respond to 50 posts at the same time. I'll be done in a few...

(to your post directly above this)

everyone is judged from the time they are born and beyond..nah scratch that, from BEFORE they're born...you are 1st judged by your race cuz your parents are already here, but as an individual you are first judged on your gender...that's the first category you are put into and judged from there...EVERYONE is judged, not just people from a certain class or race

Ok, don't try to throw a bunch of exceptions at me to prove that anyone can make it. My dad grew up in worse circumstances, has been working since he was 16, like 30% of the time he had two jobs. He has been working hard all his life, he never gets to go to sleep before 11 pm and has to get up at 4 am everyday. SO if what you're saying is true, he should have gotten somewhere by now because he worked so hard. But guess what, it's not what happened. I'm tired of all this pat on the back shit for black people who make it because it makes it look like a fucking charity. And once again, I never said I was blaming it on white people. I blame it on the government for the way shit is run that allows racists to get places, that's all.

And uh, i'm addressing the second part below.

Skin color doesent hinder anybody. But black people raised in ghettos get taught to speak with slang, act rough and dress like thugs.. And it has nothing to do with white people holding them back...

If someone born in that situation went and bought some respectable looking cloathes, fixed their way of talking and carried themselves in a different mannor.. Provided they had the brains, they could go anywhere with their lives...

And dont act like its just a black problem too.. Theres poor white people who cant get a job cause of those same reasons too... Welcome to the concept of poverty bro...

It aint about skin color anymore.. Thats a BIG misconception...

Okay, so do you think a racist person who's hiring at a job is gunna stop and say "Oh, this black guy isn't ghetto, so I like him!"? Cuz it doesn't happen. When it comes to racist people, yes, black people are judged by the color of their skin. And there are a SHITLOAD of racists and undercover racists that I have seen in my life, don't try to act like it doesn't exist. Now, put the white person who made themselves better next to the black person who made themselves better in front of a racist person, who's gunna get the job?

And by the way, you can't just change the way you are raised, it goes in and the rest of your life is based on it no matter what you do. So don't come give me some shit about how it's our parents fault because I already explained how the shit has carried on through the generations.

L. Veracity 02-12-06 04:07 PM

being a hard worker doesn't guaruntee that you'll be rich abut being black doesn't guaruntee that all white people will try and hold you down either...everyone has their own circumstances and situations that are different, nothing is concrete, it's all subjective because each person is different

my mother has been a single parent with no help from me and my brother's father, since I was 12 years old, I'm 23 now...we lived in the projects when we were in New York when we had both our parents when we were a lot younger, but since we've been here in Houston, I haven't ever even been TO the 'hood...as a single parent she's on a higher level than some people I know with both parents readily available to them, living under the same roof...if you have your priorities right you can't ever tell me that you won't be successful...she's done some college, but doesn't have a degree, she's stuck in a job that's prolly dead end, been doing the same job for 11 years, but in that time she's bought a house...it's not easy, she has to juggle and pay bills late and shit...we were on the verge of losing the house if her payment was even like ONe day late

but as a SINGLE parent she bought a house, that's more than a lot of people I know living with both parents that been living in the 'hood all their life or renting a house from someone else...you can't tell me that "white people" are holding down every person in the 'hood from getting to the level of buying a house and shit like that...and I mention buying a house because that's an example of something a lot of people strive to do, own a home

so like I said, if you work hard enough for something, you'll get it...doesn't have to be anything major, but something...you're never gonna get everything you want, no matter what race you are, but don't blame it on another race

Now your addressing hypotheticals... "What if" the employer is a racist..

Well thats fine.. "What if" a white man goes to a black employer and isnt hired due to racial prejudice either.. In a world as diverse as the one were living in, you cant act like all white people are evil job bosses that are racist towards all those of a different skin color..

Infact thats pretty damn obsurd... Because you cannot base your entire argument on a hypothetical situation that would probably not be the case a good 95% of the time...

Now do you REALLY have an argument, or are you clutching at straws to keep the issue alive when the pendulum really isnt leaning your way....
