Are you trying to download more than one song from one person? If so, you will only be able to download one at a time, and the others will be queued.
Also - your problem might be a slow connection between the two computers. In this situation, I'd just search for the file again and download from somebody else. .

Any difference between this and mIRC?

mIRC is more of a chatting program, am I right?

Soulseek, you can go and browse everybody's files, and download albums/folders/etc.
