Dunno why im even gonna waste my time but..

The worlds all about progression right? Things should seemingly evolve and become a grown updated version of its past self? right?

How is this..

Let me tell you about the life
And how you live when you is a star
Every single place you go
The people run up to your car
Everybody wants to talk, and everybody wants to jive
Everybody wants a handshake, or want a high five
And these ugly girls always got a friend
That wants to talk to you
(Bitch, Yahhh, Yahhh, Trick)
(And your friend, Yahhh, Yahhh Too!)
Ain't got time for chitchat
I'm tryin to get this money
So get up out my face
You shit-breath dummy

an evolved version of this

I was a fiend before I became a teen
I melted microphone instead of cones of ice cream
Music orientated so when hip-hop was originated
Fitted like pieces of puzzles, complicated
’cause I grabbed the mic and try to say, " yes y’all!"
They tried to take it, and say that I’m too small
Cool, ’cause I don’t get upset
I kick a hole in the speaker, pull the plug, then I jet
Back to the lab ...without a mic to grab
So then I add all the rhymes I had
One after the other one, then I make another one
To dis the opposite then ask if the brother’s done
I get a craving like I fiend for nicotine
But I don’t need a cigarette, know what I mean?
I’m raging, ripping up the stage and
Don’t it sound amazing ’cause every rhyme is made and
Thought of, cuz it’s sort of...an addiction,
Magnatized by the mixing
Vocals, vocabulary, your verses, you’re stuck in
The mic is a drano, volcanoes erupting,
Rhymes overflowing, gradually growing
Everything is written in the cold, so it can coin-
Cide, my thoughts to guide,
48 tracks to slide
The invincible, microphone fiend rakim
Spread the word, ’cause I’m in
E-f-f-e-c-t
A smooth operator operating correctly,
But back to the problem, I gotta habit,
You can’t solve it, silly rabbit
The prescription is a hypertone that’s thorough when
I fiend for a microphone like herion
Soon as the bass kicks, I need a fix
Gimme a stage and a mic and a mix
And I’ll put you in a mood or is it a state of
Unawareness? beware, it’s the reanamator!
A menace to a microphone, a lethal weapon
An assasinator, if the people ain’t stepping
You see a part of me that you never seen
When I’m fiending for a microphone, I’m the microphone fiend...

Soljah Boi < Joe Budden
Jay Z < Talib Kweli
Kanye West < Pharoah Monch
50 Cent < Cunninglinguistics
lil wayne < anyone

You stated that 'we should rethink the artists we like, no one likes them because they are garbage' honestly? Maybe you should double check whos actually listening to the artists you named. Brainless fucks who have no care for the culture, have lived thinking Hip Hop started with Tupac, and get all there info on whats cool on MTV. So because we can think for ourself and not follow commercial mass appeal, we are wrong?

Go hung yaself you pathetic fuck.

By the way, for a 'author' your spelling and general grammer/punctuation is shit.

I don't agree with Cali, however I DO Agree that 50 cent, Lil Boy, Etc. ARE in fact hip hop.

Nuff' Said.

Listen to what he says about "Hip" and "Hop". If you personally don't enjoy mainstream music don't listen to it. Just because someones rhymes is iller don't mean that they're more hip hop than you. Everyone does everything different. Some people enjoy other styles. I listen to both Mainstream and Underground hip hop, why? because it's all hip hop. If it sounds good, TO YOU, listen to it, if it doesn't, turn the song off. For instance when i'm chillen sometimes I like to throw on some Nas, sometimes I'll throw on something that bangs. But both Commercial and Underground music reflect different moods.

I Agree With This ....Sounds Right

J.Roy 09-30-09 06:22 AM

But w/e the fuck you call yourself now a days. Got Soul.

You're comparing one the single greatest lyricist of all time with Soulja Boi.

You have to look at it from a bigger picture. Since you like comparing the greatest to the least greatest. Go take a look at the original Hip-Hopper's.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diiL9bqvalo

Take a listen to this song, if hip hop is dying, it was dead the day that it started.

Edited for more

You can't even come up with an intellectual argument because you're stumped.

If you were going to compare the younger person to a younger emcee at least try to compare at a different level.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGV9G2okC8I

compare him to him, yes this guys >>>>>>> over soulja boi, but soulja boi is meant for a different kind of audience. Just because you like underground hip hop and despise mainstream hip hop doesn't mean that it's not hip hop.

Now have the lyrical skills gone down? Yes on a major level. However there are emcees that still kill the mic. Production has improved and the overall projection/quality of a song is better. Music today feels a lot more "organized" I suppose, and people like that. They aren't used to different, and that's fine. Thats what appeals to them. Now do I listen to Mainstream music? Yes, but to a certain point, there are times where I have to say fuck that and go and bump some underground jawns, but like I said, music reflects the mood. I doubt if you're feeling good as shit you're going to be listening to some of the lyrics that are in most emcees raps that are underground, not a lot reflect a GOOD happy mood, they reflect a more deeper side, which is fine, but they over saturate it with deepness, as mainstream over saturates it with more upbeat music which makes most think, 'ehhhh i'll pass that typically go for the more intellectual vibes.

That's pretty biased because they were talking about having fancy whips, cars, clothes, girls, all that, and it wasn't witty or did it make you say "ooh" it's just a good hit song.

[REAL TALK]Take any example from civilization. When something new is discovered it has a general base that needs to built upon. Now some of the builders are better then the others for example Run DMC and Sugarhill Gang back in the day.... But now that it has evolved the standard isn't the same because there's a higher expectation. The expectation of a rappers capability is higher today then it was for rappers of the past because we have a new standard. Back then when that was the only standard, those dudes were considered ill, and that's why we show respect. We have an adequate understanding of the potential that rappers have to offer these days, and Soulja Boy has not reached this potential, therefore he is wack.

I aggree with you, Soulja Boy is hiphop in his own form... but i'm sorry, the form of hip hop he is, is a fucking wack ass form that people shouldn't listen to, but a lot of people are stupid (like you).

You can compare this example to any in history. It's the reason people pay ridiculous sums of money for a car that isn't gas efficient, not economical, not as fast as modern muscle or sports cars etc etc. But they still respect the car because they realise for its time, it was the the best in its class....

I mean put the top of the line best of the best ferarri from the 60's vs. a lower line ferrari from today and the modern ferrari will KILL the car in a race because we've made improvements, but that doesn't make it a better car in general, because for its time the other car was the best, and that's why we can't compare modern to new. Now lets say ferrari made a NEW car with specs equal to that OLD top of the line one, and charged it the same price as they do for their other modern high end vehicles... Now that would be a rip off wouldn't it... but i'm sure a lot of stupid people would buy it and say "it's a ferrari, so it must be worth it"[/REAL TALK]

Its amusing how you feel the need to make things up in order for arguement sake on a internet forum.

Living on my best freinds couch? 1st of all, I rent my own place, nothing flash, but I pay my bills. You dont know what general livings like here so that entire arguement is void. Second of all, if I was living on my best freinds couch, at least Id have a freinds couch to sleep on, you fat lil wayne trend following wannabe cop.

rope and a high branch is a quick rid of all your self esteem issues. :)
