Jamal Lewis

Well... Ravens vs. Pittsburgh... game really mean nothing...
other than it's a rivalry game and also Jamal closing in on Eric Dickerson...
the 1st 2 drives of Baltimore.. it was almost no doubt that Jamal had it..
then.. after that he was owned... pretty much...
a great game tho...stover ended it with the field goal in OT

Though Jamal Lewis didn't get the record... a hella lot of respect
2nd most in total yards rushing in a season...
after 2 major knee surgeries...
i mean hell... Would any of you guys picked him up..
for fantasy football... even around the 3rd round or so?
i wouldn't have...

Chrit 12-29-03 12:07 AM

<<<Has him on my fantasy squad...

Him and Faulk at RBs

Thrust 12-29-03 12:13 AM

but i doubt u picked him up early in the draft

Chrit 12-29-03 01:21 AM

Picked him in my 5th round I believe....

<<Ravens fan
lol

C-Section 12-29-03 01:25 AM

i remember earlyer in the season their was a thread about top players at each position and i put jamal lewis as RB and people were tring to talk shit about me for picking him over some of the other "top" rbs.

dont fuck with my football knowleges. im a student of the game beyotch.

i wish he broke the record though, cause dickerson was a ram and i hate the rams

Speeches Blunt 12-29-03 02:23 AM

I actually watched this game tonight, Jamal Lewis and Jerome Bettis .. the game w. both them in right? I dont understand the rules for shit, but i watched it. >= )

He's into the Hall Of Fame for making up 2000+ Yards in a single season from what i understood, and he needed 77 yards to beat the record before i turned over.

Mr W.Rite 12-29-03 08:46 AM

saw the game too..thought he would get the record...
its crazy though..Jamal Lewis went to my rival High School
called Douglas High school in Atlanta, Ga...<-not that anyone cares...
but its crazy how you watch someone in high school come out and be successful... the same guy that used to kill my high school on the field...now is in second place for rushing yards in a single season in the National Football League... unbelievable..

Thrust 12-29-03 10:22 AM

yeah...it's like me looking at myself...lol

Penskills 12-29-03 11:21 AM

..Jamal..his bad mother$%^&*@

Muahahahaaha....

I hate the Ravens, but I was actually rooting for them to win the game so that Pitt will have a higher draft pick. When Matt Stover missed that Field Goal in the 4th I was pissed. But, the whole game I was wanting Baltimore to win but for Lewis to not get it. I was so happy that his homo ass never really got the opportunity passed the 2nd quarter...

And in all reality, Jerome Bettis is much, much more likely to reach the Hall of Fame than Jamal Lewis. Yes, Lewis had a good year, but Bettis is 6th all time with a few seasons left in him...hes been consistant throughout his career and a true mainstay.

The only team I hate more than Baltimore is the Titans...so next week will be interesting.

^ You forget i live in England, so me understanding it at all was a challenge . .

lol no he isnt in the hall of fame cam, he is just one of the few RBs in NFL history to get 2000 yards rushing. but if he continues his career with this type of numbers he will be in.

Baron Mynd 12-29-03 02:42 PM

Ahhhhhhhhhh .. so he's like .. one of those to watch out for in future?

Dez 12-29-03 02:46 PM

Ehh...it just means that basically hes had the second best year of a running back...ever. I wouldnt exactly say to watch out for him in the future, as he is by no means young...but even though I hate the him, he does deserve respect for doing what he did with such a shitty passing game. Ladanian Tomlinson deserves respect as well.

C-Section 12-29-03 03:16 PM

dont watch for him in the future? he isnt young?

i think your hate for him is blinding you to the facts

he is only 24 years old. most rookies are 22-23 when they come in the NFL

1364 yards in 2000 as a rookie
1327 yards in 2002
2066 yards in 2003

4757 in 3 seasons. (missed 2001 with a injury)

4.7 yard per carry is his carrer average

thats alot better then jerome bettis's first 3 years as a starter. jerome aka "rams cut me for quiting in the middle of a game against the 49ers"

jerome bettis had 3091 yards his first 3 years and 3.6 yards per carrie. bettis is overrated the only reason he had so many yards was because he was getting so many carries per game.

Dez 12-29-03 06:14 PM

The average career length for somebody in the NFL is 3.3 years.

Hes going into his 5th..

Plus, the man has had reconstructive knee surgery..and while that might not be apparent now, wait another 2 or 3 years of him getting 325+ carries a year. Everyone was riding Terrell Davis when he broke 2,000 and look at him now...doing nothing...why? He had knee injuries. Just like Lewis. Ive seen many a 'Hes gonna be one of the best ever' players come and go. You all seem to forget about the past...

I can name 100 players that had a good year and now sit out..

And yes, he did hit 1,000 yards twice before, but thats not even an accomplishment anymore. Hell, if you dont hit 1,000 yards, you really arent even an NFL calibur running back. (Yes, I know Bettis didnt hit 1,000 this year or last year...)

And Bettis was getting so many carrys because hes all the Rams had..unless you want to count Tony Banks. (ha.) And the reason why his YPC were so low is because they opponents were playing an 8-man box against him all the time. No one can get anything done that way. Look at Emmitt, argueably the best back of all time, ever since Aikman left he faced an 8-man front all the time. His numbers plummeted.

Bettis still has a couple years left in him...hell finish 3rd or 4th all time. (Bettis has around 12,350 and Dickerson and Dorsett both have around 13,000. Barry Sanders is third with a little over 15,000 i believe) How is that overrated? It isnt at all. You just never hear about him because hes not fast enough to break those 40 yard plays and he doesnt run his mouth off like certain other players.

Bottomline : Bettis has proven that hes Hall of Fame calibur. Those numbers dont lie. Hes one of the best backs of all time.. the facts prove it. And yes, Jamal Lewis had a good season, but he only had just that. Ive seen waaayyy too many people who had 'good seasons' be labeled and rode to hop on his band wagon.

Baron Mynd 12-29-03 06:23 PM

^ Way to spoil the party, yo . .

D-Dizzle 12-29-03 09:56 PM

Fuck that don;t front on my homeboy Bettis (Detroit What!) Lewis had the cute little 2,000 + yard season, but he still gotta get his wieght up on a overall carrer scale to fuck with The Bus, holla in a couple years if Lewis is still relevent cuz anything can happen, cough *Eddie George* cough

saltheking 12-29-03 10:06 PM

ehh, some dude said something about a dude(jamal lewis?) going to his rivaL high schooL....yeh joey porter went to my high school...LoL yeh...

...eh i dont pay enough attention to chime in at this moment...
i like pittsburgh aLot...

but i like the titans more...

whats the deaL with them this season...they beat the bucs....where do they stand now???

C-Section 12-29-03 11:49 PM

i never said lewis had a better career then bettis, i said his first few years are better then bettis's were. and i agree bus will be in the hall of fame he is one of the all time leading rushers

and the average NFL career is only 3 years but thats because most of the NFL is backups who arent good enough to play and are only their to fill the roster until the team finds someone better, thats my a majority of the players only last 3 years. but if someone is a solid player(like lewis) he has a much longer career so dont throw that bullshit at me. im smarter then that.

and dont talk about injurys being a risk to his career ending early cause that is for any player in the NFL, anyone could have their career end on any one play.

Feeble Minded 12-30-03 12:30 AM

yep, i liked the game. and i was glad they went to OT hoping jamal would get the record then.

nam_208 12-30-03 03:15 PM
