Lloyd Banks Prewriting Freestyles?

I was watchin the Rapcity when G-Unit was on (excludin yayo, tho they gave him props durin the whole thing) at the end they were doing the freestyle deal in the basement and 50's was a freestyle and did great, then lloyd banks came on and spit the same thing he spit on Obie Trice's song.. "we all die one day".. soo the question is since i dont follow lloyd banks that much.. does he prewrite all of his freestyles?

Sick ILL CeLL 01-05-04 11:40 PM

most rappers do...on mixtapes, basement or whateva dey always prewrite shit...its only a few who actually freestyle...and u can tell when somebody freestylin...only live battles are real freestyles...and even some of those r prewritten...

Yu Bin SunD 01-05-04 11:46 PM

hmm dunno some freestyle but they spit a pre verse before they break into it like jayz i saw em in the booth finally today but he spit a pre verse from the black album and then he freestyled

Knock Out Punch 01-06-04 12:00 AM

he doesnt need to rap new stuff he is already great

Gunman tha Great 01-06-04 10:00 AM

Lloyd Banks always raps prewritten garbage. And 50's prewritten shit in tha basement sucked 2. Any more questions?

RythmicTendicies 01-06-04 11:16 AM

^lmao at that^

Most rappers prewrite there stuff, meh...Banks is dope anyway..couldn;t really careless if he does or doesn't...

C-Section 01-06-04 11:25 AM

no only fake ass rapper pre write their stuff, banks probabley doesnt even write his own lyrics.

Gunman tha Great 01-06-04 11:29 AM

^^^^^^True shit, on every one of his mixtapes it says "freestyle" then he lays it over somebody else's beat so people believe he just walked in tha DJ's booth, heard the beat and ripped it. When in fact he wrote that shit. Shit sounds fake to me, and saying a lot of emcees do it don't make it right.

Zedd 01-06-04 11:35 AM

One way or another if your a real rapper alot of your lines are prewrittten or at the least prethought about and catalouged... Same thing in a battle... when you rap things come to you wherever you are...write it.... You use it to start you off and sink into your flow.

Gunman tha Great 01-06-04 12:08 PM

negative, if you are a real rapper you can flow off the top of your head. Thats why in battles, if they don't rhyme bout either A.what your opponet is wearing, or a line specifically about that opponet, then his shit sucks. And pre-thought is not the same as pre-written, shit aint even close to being tha same.

Trapt Wit 01-06-04 12:39 PM

Luda had a nice freestlye in the booth....

self 01-06-04 01:32 PM

The only reason they use the word "freestyle" for mix tapes is so they can legally use other peoples beats without getting into shit with copywrite infringements.

:) 01-06-04 02:00 PM

yeah most of these rappers prewrite their battles im begginning to thing that most of big l and eminems shit were prewritten

EyE QuE 01-06-04 02:05 PM

Prewriting is exected, even those these are proffesionals they are all about makin money they gotta be perfect no mess ups for these big boys :)

Gunman tha Great 01-06-04 02:41 PM

naw cuz they won't get sued no matter what because the rappers don't get paid for doing mixtapes, them shits are promotion. so no matter what they won't get sued so go back and come up with another reason your favorite emcee is lame

D 0 0 R A G Z™ 01-06-04 09:10 PM

Sometimes it could be a freestyle depending on when it was recorded because the actually DJ ala Cut C, Whoo Kid, or Big Mike could take the track and put it over a new beat to make it seem like they got an exclusive cut when in all reality it was just freestyles...

like 2 gunz up... was a freestyle over the Bump Dat beat on Green Lantern tape, but he took it and produced the beat and it became a track...

simple.

wogzta 01-06-04 09:18 PM

I find it difficult to believe that anyone can flow off the top of their head and execute it perfectly. And I mean 100% off the top of their head. Even personals are thought about in a battle. If you were the 2nd to spit in a battle, wouldn't you be sitting there thinking of topics to diss your opponent? No one just sits their staring and then gets up and magically has 20 lines of personal disses towards an opponent. I'm not saying rappers don't flow off the top of their heads, it's just that every thinks one step ahead (when your rapping one line, you thinkin of what you'll say next) and pre-thinks.

Philosopher King 01-07-04 01:42 AM

Yeah -- I never got this problem some people seem to have with writing things in advance. Oh, no, you mean some rapper actually took the time to think about and perfect what he was going to say before he said it? Yeah, I wish they'd all do that. Being able to produce decent lyrics of the top of your head is like being able to throw a knife more accurately than another guy. Yeah, it's a decent skill and possibly useful for something, but if you need to cut a wire to disarm a bomb, I don't want either of you doing it like that.

...Àû†øpšÿ... 01-07-04 09:31 AM

Its Called Recyclin & Some Rappers Do It Because They Dont Be Getting Paid To Freestyle......

And i would like to thank u for being a complete idiot. Write shit for yo damn songs so put "written spit" on the CD don't put 'freestyle' a freestyle aint written once u start writing boom thats tha end of it plain and simple. Oh and your bomb analogy was ignant back to tha drawing board u go.

Jay B 01-07-04 10:01 AM

Wack.... Hes Aite

retard101 01-07-04 10:08 AM

yo Zedd you wrong manin my home town i freestyle off the top of my head and as im battlin you i do that to

Gunman tha Great 01-07-04 10:16 AM

if that shit in yo sig is a freestyle from u. Then i'll grant u a pass to write the rest of yo shit.

Street Fame 01-07-04 10:39 PM

You stupid shits lol... No he don't prewrite his freestyles... Usually emcees have stored lines and ideas in their heads and they let em out in freestyles, but Banks don't prewrite his frees.

50 sure as hell dont prewrite cos hes wack as fuck lmao...

Big L = best freestyler ever, peep him, and naw he don't prewrite.. he freestyled live wit JayZ for 7 minutes and shit was complex as fucc.. and his '98 freestyle was so amazing i have to question if it was a legitimate free or not.. 1

Da_Killa_Kid 01-07-04 10:39 PM

if you prewrite ya shit don't front and act like you can freestyle, just leave that shit to the niggas wit the real talent.

Holla At Em.

Kwizikal 01-08-04 06:16 AM

I'd say 50% of rappers do....only the great
vets have th confidence to freestyle......
Have you heard Redman Free?....Sick

MP~PHASIZ 01-08-04 09:17 AM

If the whole thing is pre-written then it's not a freestyle. Think about it.

So i'd enjoy u explaining why I have the CD that Lloyd BAnks spit tha same EXACT verse on tha basement? And it was a CD that dropped about when In Da Club came out? Oh and explain how 50 finished Bank's punches for him. yeah u can't go somewhere and play hop off Lloyd's dick

one soul 01-08-04 10:40 AM

..He sucks...

D-Verb 01-08-04 04:05 PM

So many emcees prewrite now, its takin the art outta it. I respect Em to a degree, but not how he comes with all these "freestyles" that are obvious prewrittens

If i was in the position of going on the radio in front of countless heads and spittin the first thoughts off the top of my head though, I would prbably premed some of my verse, but fuck the fakeness of claiming writs as freestyles.

Baron Mynd 01-08-04 04:08 PM

A lot of mainstream rapper's do this now, why? Because if they were performing on a radio appearence and such and they did happen to mess up, or choke, it looks bad on their rep.

Mr W.Rite 01-08-04 04:19 PM

the last thing a rapper/mc wants to do when they are in front of a crowd...or national audience such as rapcity is fuck up their flow and look like assholes...
so you cant really blame artist, especially well known artist for
pre-writing..a so called free style..
but most people who are into hip hop and battling..can spot an actual freestyle or a prewrittin freestyle a mile away...kinda takes the fun outta of it to me though...but at the same time i would hate to see any artist make a fool of themselves...while on the spot light...

but as far as Lloyd banks reciting soemthing that he spit on someones album...is kinda wack to me...should have came a little more orginal...and 50 co-signing his punchlines made him look even worse....

Gunman tha Great 01-09-04 09:44 AM

in the immortal words of Ghostface "I'd rather suck honestly then be seen as dope from a lie" shits true oh and just cuz a lot of rappers do it don't make it acceptable, just makes it more depressen. Fuck fucking up in front of a crowd, did u ever see Pac or Jay Z perform? They fucked up all tha time freestyling or reciting an old ass song wit no beat, tha crowd just cheered harder and louder cuz it was real.

Mr W.Rite 01-09-04 11:51 AM

good point gunman..
but you have to admit that if a nobody fumbles a freestyle..he would get booed off the stage.. if a well known artist does it..he might get away with it...good to be prepared either way..

but we all know that those who can freestyle....with no prewrites
is going to get more respect in the long run...no matter who it is..

gk 01-09-04 02:30 PM

lloyd banks victory freestyle was up there as the best of end of 2002/beginning of 03 with hell rell's freestyle from jail. luda can't freestlye and the only niggas who really can are jigga, nas, and mos def like it or not

Brethren 01-09-04 03:16 PM

Not many rappers actually freestyle at all, they have pre-written insults, or just punchlines for fat people, or gay people, or whatever. They add them in to their verse while they are going. You can definitely tell when someone is freestyling.

Gunman tha Great 01-09-04 03:57 PM

Lloyd's victory 'freestyle' was far from being that dope. Jay's "Pump if up" freestyle was better then that. and tha best freestyle of tha year was Ghostface shit but i doubt ya'll heard it. Hell Rell's freestyle was ok but tha one from jail wasn't even his best one and neither one of em are up there for freestyle of the year. top 3 freestyles of the year. Ghostface,Jay,and Rass Kass

Gunman tha Great 01-09-04 03:58 PM

oh and Joe Budden,Big L,Kweli,Method Man, u forgot a few names on that list of yours
