Maybe If You Looks At The Lyrics Closely Here

The Bird. It must have been the birds.
Disgusting critter, it must- We should have known better to trust.
This disease infested ball of lust- and carnation
Piece of garbage with wings, and she has the guts to sing.
Get the bird. Catch her. Shoot her, I don’t care.
Get the bird! Bring her down to the ground from out the air.
Got to tear her apart. Let me at her first-
Sink her to the level of the rest of us that inhabit the earth!
What’s she thinking? Does she really believe
That she’s above the creatures that walk the dirty streets?
See, she’s up in the tree looking down at you and me
Like she’s chosen over those that walk around on two feet.
The bird. The melody she plays. The music she makes,
Rubbing our faces in the feces of the day break.
Tryin’ to remind us it’s time to awake.
Antagonizing and instigating my hate.
The chirps, I turn into screams.
My feathered friends’ ends will justify the means.
Disturbed! I’ll grab her by the beak,
And swing her in circles till’ she’s too dizzy to speak.

(2x)
I’ll shake her from the branch. Tear apart her nest.
Staple tags through her legs and cook her eggs up for breakfast.
She’s a snake that can fly. She’s just food for the fleas.
She thinks she’s better than me just because she’s free?

(10x)
(my beautiful bird has gone away)

i always enjoyed the lyrics on paper rather than the recording though... cant explain why..

saltheking 01-12-04 01:12 AM

word to concise...i know what you mean about the lyrics on paper...
...usually i look at lyrics from an artist first...then listen to them...

this track is dope indeed...

K.Largo 01-12-04 01:38 AM

and yet again noone answers my question

Lokinator 01-12-04 09:41 AM

Only Atmosphere knows exactly what this song is about. . just like looking at poetry, you can only define things based on your perspective of it. . I may have a different approach on what this song means then others because it is my personal opinion on it and holds the greatest meaning to me. .

It's really hard to explain but look at the lyrics and just come to conclusion by yourself. . your results will be fruitful

C-Section 01-12-04 11:01 AM

he is rapping about a girl.

like common did in i used to love her.

you think he is rapping about a girl but he is really rapping about hip hop

word i know everythign so listen to me

.QueteS. 01-12-04 01:37 PM

a girl cuz that's what they call'em Birds lol

Gene Pool 01-12-04 01:59 PM

my personal opinion is that he's talkin about a girl that thinks she's above everyone else. but again this track is dope indeed, fuck it, all of atmosphere's shits fuckin dope. to think my neighbor downstairs was talkin about gettin him here to play a show. sure hope he does cuz I'm there.

Zedd 01-12-04 02:14 PM

a girl

The Necromancer 01-13-04 02:06 AM

Actually... and I'm a big atmosphere fan... but I hated that song. He was way off key, that snare as always is annoying, and the beat was wack as fuck.

But the song wasn't about girls, it wasn't about Hip-Hop, it wasn't even about birds themselves.

It was about a stomach ulcer.

Trust me, I know.

GrassHopper 01-13-04 02:37 AM

LMAO @ stomach ulcer. Dope.
I never thought much about the song, I just figured he was pissed off cause a bird woke him up in the morning. But the way he says what he says in that song is dope as all fuck.

Mental God 01-13-04 10:55 AM

i think this song is meant for the listener to take it in their own way.

the bird is a symbol for something important in your life that pisses you off... maybe a girl, a friend, music

its just something or someone who thinks they are better than someone

K.Largo 01-13-04 01:09 PM

an Ulser..I like to see it as a girl. :)

MP~PHASIZ 01-13-04 08:19 PM

Never heard it, i'll have to check it out.

GrassHopper 01-13-04 09:10 PM

^It's on his latest CD, "Seven's Travels"; I can't remember but I'm pretty sure it's track 3.

MuhThugga 01-13-04 09:30 PM

I take it as an ex-girlfriend....someone he once viewed as beautiful but now sees a whole different side of her and views her from a totally different perspective.

That is my take on it. The problem with most people is that they expect the song to mean just one thing. They expect a song to hold just one meaning in a world of unique subjective minds. Think about it, get your own meaning out of it. Don't worry about what other people think the song means.

K.Largo 01-13-04 09:32 PM

I just broke up with my girl...and the songs fits so well..ya know

self 01-13-04 09:39 PM

It's about a bird.

Maven 01-13-04 10:04 PM

I always thought it was about that chick from High Fidelity. Just because I assume everyone lives the same life I do.
You know that Charlie girl? the one he John Cusack dated in college, and when he went to meet her again, he noticed that she was just a shit-talking bitch?
this is the way I see it.

...my beautiful bird has gone away =)

Emotion 01-13-04 10:43 PM

i think if u read thorugh the lyricsu can come to ur own ocnclusion

self 01-14-04 08:47 AM

But seriously...I write stuff like this; an object or thing. And most of the time I never mean for it to represent anything else. The object alone can be means in itself for a song and all the blah blah blah written with it, or for it rather.

You see, I would write about the damned bird and how I'm jealous of it. Free flying bastard.

Lokinator 01-14-04 12:33 PM

For once in my life I would love to shit on a bird. . cause they
always seem to do it to me. . do I have a target on my head?
Noooo. . So what's the need :(

I think it is about the way people always try to bring down the ones above them out of jelously and bitterness. Read the lyrics with that in mind, I'm pretty sure that was the message.

You can't be serious...

The song isn't about a girl..or a stomach ulcer.

The song is about inspiration & losing ambition: "My beautiful bird has gone away"
He is frustrated because he knows what he wants to be..but he doesnt seem to have the means inside himself. He wants to be the bird..he wants to feel that free with what he does in life..but he can't so he resents the bird. The bird is a metaphor..his drive in life..his antagonist to be something better than he is...& In the song he feels he can never reach his potential IE: "be the bird"...so in effect the bird becomes an object of hatred to him. The bird in this song is a constant reminder of how much of a disappointment he feels he is.

Peace

Orikle 01-18-04 12:32 AM
